Here are some pics of the Spalding used in the old Kronk Gym. Do you by chance know anyone who is in possession of a Medart 1255 platform?

You have a jewel right there, Zaza's got his for dirt cheap if i remember correctly but he hasn't been on here since last year, Nobody comes on here anymore it's just a few of us, lots of people went to Instagram, actually the newer folks are on instagram, it seems all the people just are gone which i feel kinda sucks because this forum is responsible for setting the trend or should i say the addiction of the Speed/Striking Bag Community, it's a shame nobody comes on here, Maybe it's a loss of interest, i have been hitting the bag since the late Seventies and there has been times when i stopped But i always come back to my roots of Bagg'in, i'm not tech savvy and never owned a computer so i don't know how to bring Zaza's link of him hitting his Spaulding platform on YouTube, he cleaned his up and painted it, i can show screen shots pictures, The thing that gets me is lots of guys have some great vintage stuff from speed bags to platforms and they never post what they got, none the less i cringe as i think all these vintage things associated to the history of the Speed/Striking bag will be lost and or thrown away because of loss of interest in the Art Of The Bag, here are some pictures of Zaza's platform. BTW the Art Of The Bag has always been in my blood way before i found this forum, But i'm so very thankful for this forum when i was off from Bagg'in and wanted to find Bags and Swivels so i can get back to the thing that is in my heart. (Edit) Oh and the only Medart Platform i've ever seen was the one on ebay, paranday used to be on here alot and would always post gems he would find but he hasn't posted in awhile

Wow thanks for posting. Yeah I still go to the boxing gym and train there with Sam. I use to train and fight out of the old Windy City Gym but it closed its door December in 2006 for various issues. Anyways I can feel.your passiona and yes one day all of these platforms will be lost. They actually all belong in a museum like Indiana Jones says. Yeah I really want to get my hands on a Medart 1255 platform like I said will be perfect for my Gym. I will post pictures of my Narragansett once I get it setup. Talk soon.

Wow i must have miss something, i didn't know you had a Narragansett platform, i almost had my hands on one from another state than where i am, he was selling it for 400 from what i could remember but he was away on a military stint and never got all my messages, i offered him 1,000 dollars plus whatever it cost for him to ship it to me, Someone on here got it for less than what he was asking, of course the guy on here that got it never posted pictures and who knows what happened to it, I do have in possession a vintage everlast platform although not anywhere as old as those platforms it is the second to the top everlast platform in my 1992 everlast catalog right below their copy of the Narragansett platform, i'll post a picture of it without the supports that i have in my shed, give me a minute to take a picture. (Edit) picture below.

No way! I've been looking for a Everlast Platform and found one for sale in Washington. The guy wanted $150 on Facebook marketplace but said it was local pickup only. I live in the Chicagoland area I tried my best but he just would not do it and sold it pretty much right away. Unreal! That's awesome nice Platform if you're ever looking to sell it at Amy point please let me know. I drove the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania this past summer to purchase and pick up the Narragansett and drove it back to Chicago. Can't wait to start using it. I need to restore my Spalding needs some good tlc. Lol

Yeah there's no way i would sell mine lol, i just need help putting it up, These originally came with an everlast chainlink swivel in which mine was all original, everything on mine is in excellent condition and it was at a Gym in San Francisco Ca , i'm in Pacifica, Ca. So it was like a short drive for me and i was born in S.F. in the very very early Sixties, 62 to be exact. Funny the guy posted it on Craigslist and i was just lucky to see it, He also wanted 150 bucks for it, i offered him 100 and he took it, These are worth way more nowadays

No...I haven't restored the Ring version yet, just haven't had the time. FYI...I have the metal pieces sandblasted and then powdercoated, not painted. this should insure another 100 years of life!
I have been lucky to be able to save these really cool (and big) platforms. Wish I had a bigger house. These are getting harder & harder to find.

I've been looking for the old floor mounts (swivels) since 2010 with no luck. I hit every flea market, antique store & garage sale anywhere I go...nothing. Hate to see this history disappear.

Great work! Yeah me as well seeing history dissappear is horrible. I trained at the old Windy City Gym and they had alot of old boxing equipment even as far back as the Victorian Era. Just recently learned that rhe building maintenence guy threw out the old Medart and Narragansett platforms and both boxing rings as well as an old heavy bag Muhammad Ali use to train on. Sickening. That's why I'm trying to find an old 1912 Medart platform for my gym that will be as old school as you can get!
