    Medart, Everlast Platform

Good day, I am currently in the market for a Medart Speed Bag Platform and an older Everlast Platform to add to my gym. Anyone interested in selling or know where I can find one please let me know. Thank you. -Steve-

Medart platforms are extremely rare. They sold complete gyms to institutions, corporations and schools. From what I have been able to find out, they didn't sell retail.

Yeah, the gym I trained at back in the day had a Narragansett and Medart and the new owners of the building scrapped them! Never called the original owner whom was storing his equipment there and they never called him to tell him. Such a shame. Yeah 20 grand no way. Means he ia not interested in selling it.

Wow that really is a Shame, Now they're lost from the people that appreciate the Vintage stuff and that are willing to pay the price if it's reasonable

I checked ebay again and there are two Narragansett platforms, they want just under 8 grand, Still over priced in my opinion and I doubt they will ever sell unless one of us baggers are filthy rich and even than the rich don't like to give up their money that easily

What do you think is a reasonable price for the Medart platform being sold on Ebay?

The best one to ask that would be the Dutchman, Although the guy on ebay wants 25 Grand and personally i would never come close to paying that price, it also looks like the wooden drum isn't originally so asking that price is even more ridiculous imo, pictures Click image for larger version

Ahhhhh, good call out! Ive been following this listing and looks like the price has even gone up by 5k! Yeah I have located several others 2 are currently in boxing gyms and another is being held onto for a bit. These are more rare than the Narragansett platform! Thanks for the information.

There are people who specialize in collecting antique sporting goods equipment. They have driven the prices up on gym equipment, and as boxing oriented equipment had the literal crap beat out it surviving examples have become pretty rare. I have given up trying to price any of the antique platforms as you can set one price and there always seems to be someone who is willing to break the bank to obtain it. There was a time when I might place a value of a Medart platform in good condition in the high three, to low four figure range because of the rarity. As what has been pointed out, it's futile to give any kind of an estimate these days. Also note that the Everlast top of the line platforms made from the Narrnagansett patterns are somewhat easier to find were selling in the low four figure range when new in the 1980's

Wow great information! I saw a Everlast Platform the one you were speaking of on sale on Facebook marketplace. The person wanted $150!!!!! He was only accepting local pickup which drove me insane! Lol I am in the Midwest and he was In Washington. I saw a Narragansett for sale for $350 from an individual in Main but also local pickup. I'll keep you posted if I find anything cool. Please keep me in mind if you come accross a Medart or 80's Everlast Platform. Thanks.

I missed out on salvaging a Spaulding platform out of the old San Diego PD headquarters gym. The firm I worked for was leasing the building with the intent of converting it to restaurant and retail space. Log story short they lost the lease and the new lease holder gutted the entire complex and everything went in the roll offs.

Thats horrible! I actually picked up a Spalding from a gentleman in Detroit that was used in the original Kronk Gym. Tommy Hearns use to train on it. I am trying to complete my collection of platforms for my gym. The Medart 1255 and Everalst would complete my gum setup and give it that right feel. Keep in touch. -Steve-

Do you have pictures you can share ? i had over three thousand post on here showing pictures of all the vintage bags i had and either sold or gave away, Since i had a severe case of arthritis, i listened to someone and deleted all my post (videos) on here, YouTube and Instagram, i started to build up my post again on here and Instagram, here is a picture of a Spaulding platform from a 1906 catalog that's on ebay they wanted a ridiculous price for the Catalog.
