I kept thinking that Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, Jon Voight, and Ronny Cox were going to walk into frame and say: > Me and the boys are takin' a canoe trip down the Chattooga River. We'll pay yall $40 to drive these cars down to Antry, so they're waitin' there for us when we arrive.
Cool little Vid.

Zaza – that was really creative! Chock-full of talent! I hope you put that in your movie!
I’d PM you, but maybe others would like to know. What camera do you use? It does beautifully in what appears to be low light. I don’t see any grain, and your vids. look great on YT. The dark backdrop made the lighting work great with the effects. I’d love to see your “set” from a corner of the room – your lighting strategy.
I’m using a GoPro Hero2 which loves and needs lots of light, and is much less flexible than yours, but even when beautiful viewed locally, my test vids. which are rendered in HD (1080p 30fps) still look weak compared to yours on YT (including that talent part).
If you have time, settings or suggestions are appreciated. Only if you feel like it – I don’t expect a lesson. I’d still like to look-up your camera. I like stuff like that. I think you mentioned it in another thread, but I can’t find it.
I think the better we all can make this look, the more diverse a fan base we can develop.
Thanks.
BTW: I had a little time with a Hero3 Black Edition which sports 120fps at 720p narrow fov. Fast multi-strike finishes look great in slow motion – no blur, but the camera freezes constantly and isn’t a good buy right now until they can correct the bugs in the firmware. Too bad – pretty cool camera with nice results when it works.

Cinematography is all about the lighting. I used a basic three-point setup; key light, fill light and back light. The backdrop is to cover my garage door windows! the rest of the video is just making sure the camera doesn't move between takes....shooting the banjo first, taking the audio off that take and putting it on an iPod, doing a second take hitting the bag....and with a little masking magic, combining the two takes. (I've done these before where there were five of me).
Next is a little color correction to get the look...then a quick render for YT.
The GoPro is a great little camera, but has a fixed focal length and is very wide. You don't have a lot of control over it. I would suggest lots of light and a good editing program so you can tweak the image to your liking.
The film looks really good now and my main camera is the Panasonic AF100. It allows me to use photographic lenses...and that makes all the difference in the look!
Hope that helps a bit....
