This is a mid 1980's Ringside speed bag stand. Modified with a 30" drum, and a double end wall bracket. I built a platform to fasten it to and used ratchet straps to stabilize it, along with three 50 lb rocks.

In 1995, Ringside sent me their current Free Standing Bag stand "only" with no attachments for other bags. (See Pictures below). It is similar to the one above, but with an updated "Tripod" base, and the Single Veritical Pole had holes in it for the board to be adjusted and locked in place. The Board attached to an iron from that had a "Square hole" that slid over the vertical pole with a spring-hinged Pin that would lock into the hole of on the vertical pole.Originally posted by Dutchman View PostThis is a mid 1980's Ringside speed bag stand. The vertical pole gave a lot of height adjust. Unfortunately it was very Unstead with a lot of "sway" and "floor creep" if not heavily weight down. I put it together in my Living Room, then experimented with mixing it with a home Step exerciser (Step & Punch) and also a Stationary Cycle, (Punch & Ride). in both cases I had to attach luggage straps to the top irons hold the board down to the base pods and crank them extremely tight to know out the sway of the vertical pole.
I don't have a video posted of the Step & Punch setup but I do have a few video's with the board lowered down for my cycle. Note how much the board was swaying even with the straps. I also had 45 pound Dumb bells on each floor pod.
Mortal Combat:
Danger Zone
I took that floor stand to several sporting goods / Fitness industry shows for booth demonstrations but the shaking/twising of the single vertical pole really messes with the rebounds.Last edited by Speedbag; 03-02-2026, 02:33 AM.Speed Bag

Correcto! Those were GREAT bags, perfect shape and action.The posted picture below from the Ringside catalog shows them teamed with their pro model adjustable Electronic wall unit of that day. A giant beast with a satellite motor attachment to move board up and down. The one they sent me still sits out in my storage bin... waaay to heavy for my bedroom walls.Originally posted by ventanakaz View Post

..... unfortunately... about a year or so after this picture on the stepper (taken in july or aug 1996) ... Ringside changed there speedbags to 'banana shape": Long and thin, and single color (red or black). After they came out and were for sale... They sent me a few to get my approval. They did not. I didn't not like, or have ever liked "banana bags".. So I tried to buy "All they had" of the multicolor bags, like above - but none in stock. SO.. they made me 5 custom bags based on the above shape, size etc and sent them to me.
They appear in a few of my posted videos. Note they also had strips of leather between the bag seams. I like that lighter leather seam against the black leather. It video's well. and you had to "punch them flat" to stop cutting the skin. We all remember those days...
(swivel is modified "plastic housing" and standard Everlast Ball-S hook.)
In this video, at 57 - 59 seconds you will see a sample of that "new" banana bag sitting in a baby car seat.. AT 1:29 is the custom Black 8x5 they sent.
fun fact: A 15-21 second is Dr. Roy Schroeder (taught me speed bag) at our last meeting, in Oct 1994. Before this, I last saw him in 1976. The black bag he is holding is a Everlast 9x7 4201
the above video also shows the evolution of the "speedbagcentral" bedroom, from the 1990 to 2003, with the bare basic everlast wall unit with blankets and weights over the top, and at 5:17 was the updated Prime Fighter adjustable Wall Unit put up in 2003.
+++++++++++++++++
Out of the those 5 custom speed bags Ringside sent, I only have one left.
