Okay I tried to post a picture and a short video. If you can see them, I have a couple of questions. The bag is hung as it came. I have an air pump and guage. But, of course I can't find it. Does the air pressure look about right. How does one tell when it is correct. Should I lubricate the swivel? WD40?

well you can see it took me 4 attempts to sort of accomplish making a thread. 2d post has a link that downloads a short video. then you have to open the down load to see the video. Don't have a clue why it does it that way.

Anyway found my electric pump for sports balls. but it doesn't read any lower than 3 pounds. so apparently my bag had 3 pounds or less in it. I ordered a new guage that reads all the way to zero. At least that is what the ad said. LOL.

That looks to be a 4208 bag, part of Everlast's former general retail line of bags. The specified pressure for their bags of that era is 4 psi of optimal performance. Too low and it will be sluggish, too much you risk failure of the seams. Also at that time they had switched to a pebble grain style of leather, which potentially can be rough on the hands.

It has a rippled, pebble surface. It has about 2 pounds right now. is Max 4 pounds same as optimal performance 4 pounds?

Four PSI will give you as much optimum response that this bag is capable of giving.

There is a little bit of variance between bags, but as a general rule of thumb, I would recommend filling the bag with air until it looks barely rounded, but not taut. You should be able to depress your thumb into the bag with some give, kind of like pushing a thumb into a cushy mouse pad.

For the swivel (chain-link style), keep in mind that the action of this is optimally intended for forwards and backwards strikes in one direction. This type of swivel tends to stutter a bit when changing directions (such as transitioning from front circle punches to side punches). If you're training the speed bag with the intent of just a boxer mentality (simple but strong), this will be a non-issue for you. However, if you are looking to get into Bible-style speed bagging, I would highly recommend a more suitable swivel.

The swivel came with bacg. I am working on replacing it. Txs.

I was able to download load your very short video and seeing you squeeze the bag with your thumb, i can tell you don't have enough air in the bag, then also seeing you hit the bag with one punch and seeing how the bag responds (rebounds off the drum) You probably need to add a couple more puffs of air to it, So try this, Full the bag up to where it feels taught and punch it, Now the sweet spot of the amount of air is somewhere in between how you have it in this video which seems to be soft, Give it a try, You will know or should i say get the feel of the bag once you find that sweet spot, i Personally don't really like those types of bottle neck bags. But there are some vintage ones that hit pretty good, There was one that i gave the Dutchman, it was a Western Auto Vintage bag, That bag was the best bottle neck bag i ever hit on, Take my advice and don't bother with the very old vintage bags because some may look good from the outside but the chances of the leather being dried out is very high, Trust me i know because i went down that rabbit vintage hole and lost alot of money buying very old vintage bags
