A couple of cans of Coke and a long soaking should clean it up pretty good, or hit it with some Rust remover.

I'm look at the thickness of that eye and S hook. Pretty amazing in comparison to the more modern ball hook swivels. these were built like a tank. I don't see any noticeable wear around the friction areas either.

I picked this up and an Everlast ball hook. Hopefully I will be able to bring the Nichols back to life. I am going to drive down to Georgia in June and bring back a Everlast Platform that I purchased back in the early 70's similar to the one Zaza has his Nichols swivel on and install it on that. The old platform has been stored in the crawl space under my house down there for many years and hopefully they will be a good match for each other. I bought two 36 inch x 1 inch round table tops from Lowes that was on sale and a 44 x 3/4 inch piece of birch plywood and I am going to sandwich them all together with glue and cut them to fit. Should be an interesting project.

I'm glad you won these items. Can't wait to see your Everlast platform.
