Alan hits the bag – while getting hits on Break.com

So, I was surfing the net this morning, and I came across one of Alan's punch-drumming videos that someone posted on www.Break.com. It's a site where they post all sorts of videos. A member of that site ("Zydeco") posted Alan's video on the "Bizarre and Amazing" Channel on Feb. 13th and it's received over 34,000 views! Pretty cool.

If you get a chance to view this link, you might find the comments pretty interesting, too. Of course, there are a few zingers, but the majority of them are positive comments.

    You rock, Alan!

    Hmmmm.
I'm thinking that 2013 will be the Year of the Bag.

    Bag on!

Loved watching the video. But people just amaze me at what they write in the comments about things. Someone could suffer the most horrific event and you would find people writing the most heartless things about it. I have tried not to read the comments section anymore.

Yep, I don't know who posted that all last week my several of my punch drumming video's got tons of hits and amusing comments. Also got a contact from Good Morning America to show one video and a late night Fox News program to show another one of the video's.

The most important, and very surprising result was an invite to audition for a Punch Drumming demonstation on The Late Night with David Letterman show, during one of their segments called "Stupid Human Tricks" which features average folks doing unusual, strange of very entertaining activities. It has been a staple segment every few months for many years.

If this happens it will probably be this thursday, Feb 21. I'm flying to NYC tomorrow, with set up and rehearsal thursday AM, and show taping that afternoon. No guarentees your act is used, but they show 3 out of the 5 acts they bring in. Since Paul Schaeffer and band are working up the music (Turn the Beat Around, I think) it seems like it should be a go. So, check out the David Letterman show Thursday night and see if there is a guy hitting the speed bag for about 45 seconds or so. You get 3 tries or about 45 seconds to do your thing. So I guess if I miss, I get a do over....

Someone record this! Can't believe I'll miss it.

Alan, it seems you've recovered enough to be able to do one punch drumming. That's great news. I'm sure you'll make the cut.

Actually I haven't tried hitting anywhere near full force since surgery in November 2012, but we'll see soon enough. It's been 3 months so I should not re-tear the tendon that was reattached. Of course it should'nt have torn in the first place, so who knows. I'm betting it can hold for the 45 seconds or so...

That would be FANTASTIC if you could observe and film this Zaza. Nothing like having one of your own in your corner!
I'd make my way to Manhattan if I was in the Tri-State area just to be a friendly, smiling face in the audience!
