How To Speed bag for physical rehabilitation.

I am a new member trying to figure out the forum and posting links or videos.
Since posting a speed bag video to Youtube about a week ago, I discovered the whole world of speed baggers out there and am delighted to have found the speed bag forum.
Please enjoy this home made video, of our home made speed bag platform, that is standing on it's own, being held up to the wall by just a few screws. as living in a rental, we could not "affix an attachemet" and only after having built this, discovered free standing units are for sale on Craigs List.
Oh well, Please enjoy the Speed Bag Video and feel free to give any advice:

      Cool Video!

That setup looks super Solid. It's tough to beat the stability of 4x4s if they're braced, and anchored properly as you have here.

It's good to see you're using a ball hook swivel. at first a person may notice that a strike off center will send the bag off in an unintended direction, but the ball hook swivel will soon make your bag striking very accurate.

Both of you doing great on the bag. Keep On Baggin'

Hi Randolph. Welcome to the forum.

Knowing some of you and wife's physical issues, I would highly recommend staying away from any free standing Units available on Craigs list or any other auction site - unless the unit is the Balazs Boxing model UBS1S. This item rarely, if ever, comes up on auction or sale sites other than Balazs, but it is the only free standing floor frame for speed bag that I would recommend.

If at all possible, stay with a wall attached unit. All the others I've seen are very unsteady with serious swaying due to their single vertical pole design.

              Thanks Speedbag,

We really appreciate the advice and it confirms my suspiscions that these free standing speed bags with light thin boards appeared to be more of a gimmick than top grade stable platforms.

It looks like the good stuff, even wall mounted is way out of my price range, so I am going to have to stay with home made for now.

I just found a commercial use door ($20.00) that weighs about 100lbs, and is 34 5/8 inches x 7ft, and recently scrounged some really nice discarded framing used to ship huge slabs of granite, so I am now in the process of erecting it WHOLE, so I can do a 360 around the bag while trying to punch it. I think it is going to be a blast and will post a little video of it as soon as it is done.

I hope others who are financially strapped can take advantage of a home build too, after all, it's better than sitting around wishing for stuff we cannot afford; and just building these things is a workout of it's own.

                Thanks Ebozyn,
I have always favored the ball & socket for it's precision & instant smooth change of direction and how quiet they are when hit just right. Glad you enjoyed the video, it is home made too!

                        COOL!

I like the way you can walk all around the door while bagging.

You gotta love DIY stuff like this.

Is that door solid all the way through, or braced inside with a wood veneer?
