    New here and hello

    Alan,

I remeber you from the Rosstraining forums and checked out your site. Needless to say, this forum had it all concerning the speed bag. Very impressive.

I've been lurking for a while but never posted. I wanted to install a speed bag platform in our garage, but do to this being a new home and the noise factors, I went ahead and built a free standing unit from mostly scrap wood. Adding in the swivel (Everlast) speed bag extra hardware, wood and supports, I spent about $70. I will take what I built from this and scale it down for my next model.

Now in regards to the bag, I believe it is way to small, but I will play around with this until I get a larger one. This is 6x9 and I will go with a 8x11.

Once I get the rythym back, I will post some vids. I haven't hit a speedbag in over 16 years, but it should take long to get the hang of it again.

I will post pics once I figure out how to get them on here

      Hey Gil,

Yep, I used to spend a lot of time on Rossboxing, then Rosstraining. Ross is amazing. I've been hanging in here a lot more last few years. It won't take you long to get back into it. Speed bag skills come back pretty quick. We look forward to your video's

Any advice to a newbie who never hit the bag, but is very interested in learning. I ordered the everlast adjustable platform, I need some advice about a good swivel, a good bag, wraps, any help greatly appreciated... BRONXHEART

For a beginner I would emphasize that this is more of a "control" bag than "Speed" Bag. The tendency is too hit too hard and have the bag go fast, which is impossible for them to control until they learn how.

                  Alan,

I'll get pics up as soon as I finish things up. I am also installing a heavy bag stand on my platform, so I would rather show you guys the completed project.

                    Gil and Bronxheart,

Welcome! The first thing I would do if you really want to learn the speed bag is pick up Alan's book and Video. As a forum member he will give you a good deal! You will be glad you got it...
