New member, help needed please guys

Hi everyone, Been looking around this site for a while but this is my first time posting. Just recently started using a speed bag for the first time and bought a speed bag set off a friend of mine. However it was only a really cheap one and it vibrates alot and its very slow.
Ive decided to buy myself a brand new speedbag platform as i really want to get into it. Im just not sure on which to go for? Just wondered if you guys could help me out? Im wanting to spend about £100. not to bothered if its height adjustable or not, just want it to be fast and quiet...
Just looking for the patform and swivel not worried about the bag as i have a decent one.

    Any help appreciated, cheers
    Tom

    Welcome to the forum!

Here in the states, this platform is the best value for the money, adjustable, rock solid, and affordable. It can be had for as little as $96 US not sure if it's available where you are (UK?).

Trusted by champions since 1910. Boxing gloves, punching bags, training apparel & more – built to last.

The only caveat is the vinyl bag that comes with it is rubbish and should be disposed of The swivel may or may not be to your liking. Personally I'd replace it with a ball hook (Plastic would be quietest), and get any one of Everlast's or Title's or Ringside's leather speed bags in 9x6 or 8x5 size.

One thing I didn't mention in my previous post is that you may be able to fix this platform. What type is it? Are you sure it's securely mounted to the wall? Is the swivel nice and tight? Throw a 50 lb bag of sand (wrapped in a trash bag) on top and things may improve quite a bit. A quality speed bag can make quite a difference as well...

Hey bezzer, im from the Isle of Wight, if you cant get any joy from your local store, order one from the link i put up. It only takes a couple of days.. well ive only been bagging just over a month so i dont think im qualified enough to suggest what bag to start with mate.. though there are plenty of guys here that would be able to give you advise on that..But ive been learning on a small bag ( 5x8 ).

There were none in stock so ordered online, think im gonna go with a small bag, it will be harder to start off with but i'll be okay once i get used to it. What swivel comes with the platform? is it a chain link and how does it perform?

Hey Bezzer!! welcome to the world of speedbag! i am in the UK also, i started with a 8x5 Everlast pro from sugar rays! it is a small bag but has a nice fat belly i have about 6 bags some bigger some even smaller but i always seem to come back to the Everlast! (pictures on my home page). most shop bought drums seem to come with a chain link swivel, most of the US guys seem to use a ballhook swivel but we cant seem to get them in the UK, i got my U bar swivel on line took about 8 days and cost about £30 but you may have to pay import tax but the drum you are looking at is a bargain!! best of luck, Fingers.

Hey bezzer, welcome aboard. The Everlast platform should work fine for you. All of us started out at square one at some time. But this site along with Alan Kahn's (speedbag's) Speegbagcentral site will provide some great help to you. Just spend some time under the board, and you'll see rapid progress.

Post up some videos when you feel comfortable and you'll get some great feedback by some of the best speedbaggers around.

                              Hey Bezzer,

Welcome to the forum. If you got that setup earlier in the post than you should have a real solid setup. Lots of bagger's like it and it's THE "official" equipment of the infamous speed bag truck. I guess we'd call it "Board Certified", by one of the best Rock & Roll bands in history.

Post a video or two and we'll be glad to help you out. You'll be surprised how fast you can improve with a little help.
