    holes in drum

    my drum has holes where the bolts pass through drum and frame with nuts to hold drum to frame. The heads of the bolts are counter sunk so that they are below the surface of drum.

    My question is "will the bag hitting these holes damage the bag over time?

    Is there a way to fill the holes to match the surface of the drum? I thought of plastic wood but I fear the filler would come loose when hit by the bag repeatdly.

    I use layers of strapping tape, the tape has been on there for a very long time, ever since i added the three foot octagon drum.

      I thought about making plugs out of wooden dowel and gluing them in.

        +++++++++++++++++

        In years past I had Boards with counter sunk holes for bolts that hold the frame and never noticed any bag impairment, AS long as there is no part of the bolt or screw above the board. Of course, if there is any metal of a bolt or screw that the bags hits repetitively - it could damage the bag as well as interfere with the exact angle of bag rebound.
