Sure looks like an injection molded flange doesn't it?. Hmm, I didn't realize that they were making them that late. The latest I recall seeing AMF Voit Whitely boxing equipment was in the early 1970's. That's when they introduced their white vinyl striking bags. They were also selling a free standing bag stand (single pole with a rebound ring platform) then as well.

It looks like a die-casting to me. Zinc aluminum alloy.

That would be more appropriate for that era. My experience with that alloy is that it breaks down over time, becoming brittle.

Agreed, a reputation for failure over time. Zinc alloys have come a long way since then !
