    Playing with light

    Guys,

I've been trying to come up with different ways to shoot video of speed bagging. I had the idea to turn off all the lights and hold small red bike lights in my hands. It didn't really work but when I took over-exposed still photos I got some interesting results. Nothing that great but I thought it might trigger some ideas in someone else. It's pretty hard to get the exposure right, press the trigger and get going all on your own. Maybe someone else can pull it off better.

    cheers

    playing with light.

Looks pretty cool to me. I may try to hit the bag to a strobe light.

Very cool visuals. (Nice swivel, by the way. ) Somewhere, tucked away on a back-up drive or in the icloud, is some video I shot 3 or 4 years ago. Back in my most addictive phase of speed bagging, I experimented with small flashlights in my fists while hitting the bag. I tucked away the video clips with the idea of posting them at a later date. Hmmm… now where did I put those clips…

Thanks for posting, Frasmac. It's reassuring to know that others have had the same idea.

That's cool msDeville. Yeah your swivel made it down under. The swivels really are the secret magic. Most people just look at the bag but we all check out the swivels. Ha.

That will prove to be much harder than you think.

            punching to a strobe light.

If it's hard for you, Alan, I'm not even trying. I have one of your training tapes back when they were on DVD!

I meant to say VHS. Not too high tech!

I figured that. I haven't sent out any VHS tapes since about 2005 or so.

Guess I'll just have to store them with my 8-tracks and audio cassettes, in hope the retro craze will bring them back.

                  here's a thought

They have gloves that light up your finger tips I see it all the time in clubs. That might work better since you don't have to hold anything. Just a thought

                    fluorescent paint

Here is a thought. how about painting your hands or bag or gloves with fluorescent paint and taking pictures or video with black light?

THAT is a solid idea. The lights were a little too much for the exposure but the glowy stuff might be just right. That would also give me a way to light up the bag which is what the video really lacked. Nice one.
