If you could see my face ...
I'm blushing with the overwhelming positive comments!

Thanks everyone. I can't help but mention SB2010... I met several of you at SB2010 who are also here on the forum... and now, it's even more special for me to read your postings or watch your videos – I now know another dimension of you. So glad I had that opportunity to meet you! And all these great comments are truly appreciated...
Thanks Brian! It's a work in progress, obviously.Originally posted by spinsmashpop View PostVery nice stuff Dee! Smooth combos!
BAG ON!
Nice hangin' and bangin' with ya at Speed Bag 2010!
Loved meeting you at SB2010. To see you "playing" that vertical bag with your drums… unforgettable stuff.
Thanks, fingers! Missed you at SB 2010.Originally posted by fingers View PostGreat stuff MsD!! nice elbows i really should try learning those!!

I love doing elbows. Elbows and punching in triplicate. I like the sound pattern of the bag. So, are you pretty-much hooked on the S-hook? I switched about the same time, and I love it!
Man, this makes me feel great! Thanks, Jack! I just go with the beat of the music. I'm imagining that the bag is an instrument and it's up to me to strike it just right, compensating for a weak hit here and there… honestly, speed-bagging REALLY hones your reflexes.Originally posted by Eighty-Eight View PostDee,
Wow! You have great sense of time. That's "musician speak" for hitting on right on the beat without getting ahead (rushing) or falling behind (dragging). As I watched your video, I had a smile on my face thinking, ‘Damn, she’s right there, right on it.’ [The elbow stuff is obviously harder to do.] You were groovin’ girl. Great. Do more.
I find that I have to close out peripheral sounds to really feel the beat. So, when I film, all that's getting recorded is my punching while I wear earbuds with my iPod in my pocket. I do a "countdown" from 3 to help me synch the music when I put the two elements together in iMovie.Originally posted by Eighty-Eight View PostQuestion: How did you get the sound of the music to be so up front? In other words, it sounded as if the music source was plugged directly into your video recorder. Didn’t sound as if you had a speaker in the room and just turned it up. There was no room noise. The sound was good.
Nice poster from SB2010.
Keep it up. Wonderful.
Jack
It takes a while to synch it, but it's only at the beginning… I don't edit the timing once I lock it in at the intro. I can also adjust the speedball volume so it won't overpower the music. (Geez, do I sound obsessive, or what?!)
Anyway, I figure since I don't have "manly" punches due to being a weenie woman , I gotta make it interesting! (And, Metaldad, if you're reading this, I use 3 lights when I film!
)
Thanks, Jim. Welcome to the forum – albeit late. I enjoyed your marley video. You seem to have a very relaxed style. I understand that you and Alan go way back, right?Originally posted by jimcaher View PostDee,
Nice. You're getting good at this. Wish I had your shoulder flexibility. Is this something you work on, or is it just the way you're constructed?
Jim
I'm not sure how to answer your question about my flexibility. I do work at it... every day for an hour or so – been working on different elbow strikes since winter. But, growing up, I was very limber… I've been very easy on my body over the years. Not into exercise in general. And the most athletic I've been was when I played co-ed volleyball in my 30's. I just practice a lot. A lot!
Wow! I'm glad it brought a smile. Punching to music brings me such personal satisfaction. Glad you enjoyed it, Paranday.Originally posted by paranday View PostA gazelle is graceful. So are you. I also have a smile plastered on my face when watching this. This is the kind of video I can watch more than once, all the way through.

You're too young to have heard it on the radio (it's from the 80's!). Now you can hear it in elevators, supermarkets, and waiting rooms… :-) (Metaldad, if you're reading this… my apologies for my song choice. But, as my Thread Title says, "The Bag Made Me Do It!"Originally posted by crapshoot View PostVery nice video. I do remember that song

Indeed, I certainly FEEL like I'm in the groove. I just hope I don't look like a groovy idiot!Originally posted by Biff View PostVery smoothly done, Dee. When that music is playing, you're in the groove!
Hey Ted! Yeah, that's how I felt went I was hitting… and the hypnotic effect. All that repetitive punching. That's why I like doing drills.Originally posted by TJ_MaTee View PostDee, that was "SO" Awesome! That, lowered my blood pressure and was exciting at the same time! It was hypnotizing it was so smooth. And you do have a good sense of "time" as Jack mentioned. Very cool Dee.
Thanks Baggist! That's a great compliment coming from someone who is quite expert at elbow combos! You inspire me.Originally posted by The Baggist View PostVery cool Dee!!! Super nice double elbow work!!! Smooth and controlled, kept your timing and groove going for 5 minutes straight!! Awesome.
Whoh. Now, that's cool!Originally posted by crapshoot View PostIt really did have a cool, otherworldly feeling too it.
Thanks Sparrky! So you hit to music too? I've had to hit to music from the beginning. I'm no good at hitting the bag without music, or just listening to the metronome. I get all messed up and panic, and overthink the beat, etc.Originally posted by sparrky37 View PostLove it D! Really Great work! Great consistensy all the way through! I hope to get that smooth on the Bag.
I sure felt like I was jamming' Alan. This clip, I know is not perfectly executed… actually pretty rough, but man, I was feelin' the groove, as they say. And for some insane reason I feel the need to "share that moment ;-) with the world!!!Originally posted by Speedbag View PostAlright DEE, now "you B jammin!". I'm seeing those awesome split fist combo's on beat during the fist half! very nice. Sounds like you're working in some of the syncopated combinations also.
I wish we could have worked together a bit more on some dedicated Punch Drumming. Maybe play some songs over and over that you wanted to work on. You've got a good ear for it and I think could pick up a lot to go with your already very smooth moves.
Good job! punch on and listen to bag beat! Don't force it - What you need rhythmically is already inside. Just let if flow through the bag, like Hand Dancing.
Yes!! I would have loved some SB sessions while at the event. I'm still such a rookie and I have so much to learn… But there just weren't enough hours in those 3 days at SB2010. So many Forum baggers to watch, and talk to, it was just a blur of activity… and it went by much too quickly for me.
Thanks so much for the advice… hmmm...Hand Dancing...
Thank you, TommyT. I'm so flattered. You know, I can't wait to get better… I don't expect to EVER reach Expert level, but, if I can make the bag dance and not look too dorky or clumsy while doing it, then that's okay. I don't know if I'm even doing ANYTHING technically correct! Trainer Raul will suggest things to me, but, well, you know… I kinda have a problem with being "told" how to do something. Again, I wish I could have spent more time talkin' with you and Becky. I love your swivel design. I think you've got something there… BTW, you inspire me to think outside the box, or bag, in this case. And after watching Skunk at SB 2010, he seems to be constantly coming up with original ways to hit the bag...Originally posted by spdyTommyT View PostD its always lovely watching you perform. You deserve all the praise. There's not to many women with your skills that I've seen. The ones I have seen may have speed but not those moves, or your style and grace. You are truly inspiring, I've gotta go and bag! Thanks

Haha, I think we all have a little streak of that. I think of it this way: I'm helping others learn the bag, not showing offOriginally posted by MsDeville View PostWell, I felt compelled to post a video. (I guess it's the narcissism in me!
*moi?*).
Glad to see the yellow Title being put to good use. My first "real" bag was a yellow title and I still use it, original bladder!Oh yeah. And, this is the Title bag I won in a drawing at SB2010. I really like it. I think Bif told me that he punches on this model. It's nice on the hands and I like the way it rebounds.

I like your way of thinking, Tim! Actually, if it weren't for all of you posting videos, I would have lost interest in this by now! I've watched some of yours over and over – and I especially like the slo-mo one. It really helps me to understand some of these punches.Originally posted by Tim View PostHaha, I think we all have a little streak of that. Thanks Mrs Mitts! I'm really hooked on this punch-drumming right now. I started out doing this for exercise, but the artistic value has really come to the surface for me. It's crazy! I hear a song now, and I'm ready to punch to it!Originally posted by Mrs Mitts View PostVERY VERY nice Ms Deville!

Not much to say that hasn't already been said but I too was feeling that chilled out hypnotic effect!
Great to see you enjoying the bag so much, look forward to more vids!
