I'm glad you're happy with it.

Good luck with the chain link swivel, I never did like the one I had.

Did you ever end up reinforcing your wall to eliminate vibration?

        Balazs i-Box Speed Bag Platforms

I have had the pleasure of meeting several of the Balaszboxing staff a few times at sports and fitness shows that I have attended over the years. They are great people and a first rate business, committed to quality. They also offer helpful training advice online here: In the Gym at Balazsboxing.com.

and, as fastaslight states, Their customer service is second to none.

I haven't had the oportunity to hit with the I-Box, but I've used it's older brother Balazs Twelve Inch Adjustable Speed Bag Platform at several locations and found it to be Rock Solid also.

The only note of caution I might offer is about changing the swivels. You don't want to twist and bend the screws too much when backing them out or screwing them in, for this may widen the swivel holes in the wood. IF the swivel screw holes get too big they won't hold tight, and the swivel base can become lose. Notice the frame placement directly over the center of the board makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible to drill the swivel holes all the way through and bolt your swivel to the board. This probably won't be a problem for most users, and these boards are hardwood and very solid, (as opposed to softer rebound boards) but just be careful when dealing with the screws.

...now if they could just invent the perfect ballhook swivel.

Yeah I used 2x6 instead of 2x4s and kinda put them in a T shape to the crappy trailer 2x2 then a piece of thick plywood, then used 2 more 2x6s on the plywood to mount the platform adjustable rails!

Works GREAT have not even put the 24in century drum on top yet, the balasz
drum is fine for now but as soon as I get some longer bolts I'll do that also!

I HATE THE CHAIN LINK SWIVEL, I ordered 10 BALL SWIVELS from KARATE KORNER after seeing the picture of the metal ones on the site but got 10 plastic ones, to make a long story short they suck so I sent them back!

Still trying to get some METAL BALL swivels cause the one I got on ebay dont
work right, BUT speedbag said to take the hexed bolt out and Iam hoping if I unscrew it from the ball a little it will work better!

If anybody finds some let me know????????????? LOL wont cross my fingers.

            Tim,

YES ROCK SOLID, RAIL SYSTEM WORKS WONDERFUL I CAN PROBABLY
            DO PULL UPS ON IT!

I am kinda new to the computer thing so not really sure how I could but was looking into a new Video cell phone, how do you guys post vids, WEBCAM??

I think I could post a pic from the cell I have now but of course it wouldnt be
            in action!

If you plan on getting the Ibox I would order about 1 month early just so your name is on the list, they wont bill ya until it ships.

I got all the AK dvds thanks to a very good friend, its a little hard trying to
learn on the 5X8 everlast bag so I just ordered 2 from title plus the #3 swivel
so hoping thats makes it a little bit more easy, even though I like a challenge.

That is Actually a great question.

To post a clip, first you have to have a way to capture it, like A video camera or digital still camera with mpeg or video capture capability. Then you tape yourself hitting. This works best if the camera is on a tripod to hold it still. Try to get the camera up to an even level with your bag from the side. Set the video frame to be wide enough to see your the whole board, and your whole body from the side (back, that is. feet and legs will reguire the camera to be too far back. About mid waist of hips is great).
It also helps if you have a light source near and about as high as the camera. This light should shine directly at you hitting, and be underneath the level of the board. The reason for this is: the board usually blocks light that comes from the ceiling. A well lite room otherwise will appear dark under the board.

Then you need a way to get the video into the computer, usually through a firewire import.
then you need a video software program to edit your footage and make the file small for posting. Usually for quickie small files, Windows Movie Maker (free in XP) is fine. It also give the added advantage of being able to add slow motion easily, which helps a lot in seeing arm/fist movements. Make a 15- 30 - 45 sec clip, save to one of several formats such as: small HQ .wmv or and mpeg, mpg, etc.

Finally, To post public video's, set up a free account at an online website for this, like:

              Putfile.com

              YouTube

              Metacafe.com

and then post a link to it using the URL feature on the forum in the "Video Forum"

              +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
              other helpful tips:

Do not have a bright light source, (window) looking directly into the camera. that is why you want the sun (or light) behind you when you take a picture. If the light is glaring into the camera lens, most auto focus cameras will shut down the iris and mess with the lighting, yielding a poor picture. It also helps to have a bland background wall behind the bag. Stuff like wall clutter and pictures can make it slighlty difficult to perceive the fist and bag through the family photos or stacked books.

It is difficult for the group to hear and judge your abilities, and offer advice, if you add a music track to your video for effect. Any added background sounds distracts from the bag sound. If you want to try and HIT to music (as I do..) then great. post it so we can enjoy your beat and check your ability.

If you want some help on certain punching or elbow striking combinations, than try and repeat that combination four to six times in a row. It is easier to see and hear a swing or rhythmic pattern if it is continually repeated several times.

as a guide for online video tutorial, check out some of TIM's videoclips He makes it easy to hear and see what is happening.

It works best with a digital camcorder - I have a Sony that records in Digital on Hi8 tapes, I use a "firewire" cable that connects to the laptop and Windows XP has moviemaker software that can be used to import and edit the footage. It's quite easy, but if you don't have the digital camcorder it's not really feasible. I think some digital cameras have a movie mode that would work as well. I tried that with mine but the frame rate was way too slow.

If you can't post video, no big deal... I guess I can wait until I get mine to see it in action

                  Troy

Troy, I think you'll be happy with the #3 swivel. I bought one for my outdoor bag set and I like it. I was skeptical of using anything but the ball/swivel hook after I had a horrid experience with the chain link swivel. I had bought one to replace my plastic ball hook swivel and I absolutely hated it. I really was skeptical about trying anything else after using a metal ball hook swivel, but I took a chance and I'm glad that I did.

I know Alan says to use tape, etc. on the # 3 style swivels, but maybe it's because I'm used to it but I haven't really found it necessary to do so. It is awkward switching from front/rear hits to a side hit, but it's not really that bad.

I switch bag sizes frequently and the #3 style makes that very easy for me. I usually start off with a 5x8 bag for a while, then when I'm good and tired, I'll switch to my 11x8 or 12x10 since it's slower and I can really smack the hell out of them without the burning in my shoulders. I can punch that big bag as hard as I can and it's not hard to keep up with. It's also very satisfying to hit the big bag that hard.

The 12x10 title bag is super slow and heavy but I can beat on it forever. The only thing I hate about that bag is the strap which is about 1.5" long and sometimes the bag twists on the strap which really pisses me off. I found that if I concentrate on hitting exactly in the center of the bag it's not a problem, which again is not difficult because it is so slow.

A good leather crafting shop, Saddle shop (hey, I live in Texas..) or shoe repair shop may be able to alter it for you. Years ago I got a weight lifting belt made, and the guy fixed several bag attachment loops for me. One he stitched the broken ends together, and on another he just made another one. If they can sew leather, the can fix it.

Perhaps he/she could cut the long strap in the middle, over lap the ends and stitch it so the double thickness will help reinforce the altered strap.

                    Hope this helps.
