Bladder Type
I unlaced the 6x9 Title bag that I had originally bought and it has the rubber bladder. My large 7x10 4214 everlast bag has the orange plastic bladder. I remember someone saying something about the bladder having to do with the bounce of the bag and I think the bladder definitely has a big part of why these everlast bags bounce so fast and feel so light even though it's bigger.... Imagine 2 balls of the same size, one plastic and one rubber. The plastic one not only will weigh less, but bounce higher and it won't absorb the bounce as much as a heavier rubber ball.
But I've grown a custom to the slower Title bag because it's more controllable and better for doing tricks which the everlast bag is better for gaining speed and so now I have developed a taste for both types of bags. Weird how that works, I'm sure the veterans here have gone through this phase before
So I'm going with both the 6x9 Top Contender and the 5x8 Classic Title. As long as I can still get that top contender for $19.99 tomorrow, I'm definitely buying it. I'll update on them even tho I haven't updated on my homemade speed bag platform yet. Sorry about that, I have been busy restoring 2 heavy bags in which I took the torn cloth and sand bags out and put a PVC pipe in the center, filled it up with sand and repacked the cloth around the pipe and now have 2 heavy bags that feel better than any bag I have ever hit in my life. I'll do a thread on this aswell. Amazing what you can learn on the internet.

I'm in love with my ringside brand bags. Really light and nice on the hands. Have 6x9s and a 5x8. The 5x8 is fast and super light, much harder to hit. Just got it, I need some work on it. They all have super plush leather. The only thing is they are more on the "peanut" shape. Little more spendy too. I prefer a slender shape bag. I am fairley new to hitting from other sides of the bag than the front. I have everlast bags. 4200s, 4210s 4214s, pro 5x8. Since hitting all around, the ringside get all the hitting now. The others have gone flat with neglect. To each his own I guess.

97Mustang82 - when you get your new bags, PLEASE post your results! I am the same, I love my Everlast red 4210's - VERY bouncy and feels great. I have a few of the Title bags, which are extremely well constructed, but like you say, they're much slower bag, more uumph to get them going (leather seems thicker, and seem to take a while to 'break' in). I am now using the Title for warm ups and practicing at slower speeds (newer combinations, etc), then move to the bouncier Everlast to practice at faster speeds later in my workout. I'd like to get more bags like the bouncy Everlast (personal preference, not due to quality), so I'm real interested in your conclusions with your new bags!

Maybe i'll just get both sizes in the Top Contender bag? I dunno. What do you guys think? Which bag would you rather have in a 5x8, Top Contender or Classic Title Bag? Yes I can think for myself, but I've never tried these bags before and don't know which one would be better in 5x8. Would it be better to have a bit more weight in a smaller bag?...........so buy em all (ha ha)

But which sizes should I get from each? Now I want to get a 6x9 and a 5x8 but don't know which bag I should get in its size. Should I get the Contender in the larger 6x9 and the classic in 5x8 or vice versa? Which is the lighter of the 2 size for size? Maybe I get the lighter one in the larger size? What do you guys think?

I remember a thread with some bag reviews and weight.

I found that thread with the title bags, everlast, ringside, & top contender weights.
I was wondering, that title classic bag looks tempting. Real round, the leather looks more of the 4214 type, and is lighter in comparison the the regular title bag of its same size. Does anyone know how much the Title classic 6x9 weighs? Or even the Everlast 4214? I'd buy the black 6x9 Everlast high performance bag, but I think it's heavier than the 7x10 4214. Anyone know the weight of any of the rival bags? I need a scale so I can weigh the my bags.Last edited by 97mustang82; 09-16-2007, 06:38 PM.
