  • New Member 3 bags to choose from: please advice

New to the speed bag. Ordered deville swivel. Making my drum with two 3/4 pieces of plywood that I will glue together. I am going to make it 34" round.

I want to get a 6x9 bag. These are the following choices.

    1. TITLE Boxing Gyro Balanced Speed
    2. TITLE Speed Bags
    3. Ringside

Please let me know your recommendations. Are used bags any good?

    Thank you

    Nick

...Hey Nick, If you can post a pic of the other bags your thinking about, if you get a title bag you might find it to rebound a little slower than it's potential, Changing out the bladder will make it rebound faster, Usually bags with black bladders will rebound slower and take more energy to get going, there for giving you less time to work on form.

from baggerbobs list, I would say get the ringside 6x9 Those bags don't have the slow rebounding black bladders in them, So you don't have to change out the bladder for a good rebound...

...I see that you have and or in the weight lifting thing. I would suggest getting that ringside bag or the fighting sports bag, both have good strong leather and I have had both bags, IMO the ringside is a better stronger leather, but the fighting sports is no slouch and I have hammered on that bag and love it, but I also changed out the bladder on the fighting sports to the title orange replacement bladder. you should get both bags and order a title orange replacement bladder for the fighting sports...ralph

I have never hit a bag seriously.

Love to lift heavy. I twisted my ankle and ended up with an orthopedic surgeon. He scared me straight.

At 48 I am coming to an end of lifting heavy. Joints don't grow like muscle. He shared how many knees, elbows and wrists he has to rebuild. Never the same.

Hard to change but looking forward to this bag. I hope it challenges me with cardio.

Went to the gym and I challenged the guys to go up 3 flights of stairs. Everyone including me was sucking air and done.

                    Great info on the bags.

...You should also get a double end bag, You get more cardio from working a DEB, But you can also get good cardio from the speed bag if you also use footwork while hitting the speed bag, This means not just standing in one place but to move around with footwork as you speed bag...ralph

I second the double end bag! Wish I would have gotten one years ago.

I have never heard of a double sided bag. Which one do you recommend?

Went to You Tube to see what it was and how it works. Maybe I should have only ordered this bag. Maybe I don't need the speed bag.

                              Do you guys recommend both?

All the guys on You Tube had gloves. Do you guys use gloves to hit the double sided bag?

What type of gloves do you recommend if it is a yes?
