    wrist wraps

My question is what do wrist wraps really do....Do they really help support your wrists or are they mostly for show?

Since I have metal in both of my wrists and would like to protect them I really would like the forums thoughts on this. both pro and con. thank you one and all for helping me in this matter.

I would vote that they are helpful and do offer some support if used correctly. Just like ankle wraps and lately you also see some high tech elbow and shoulder wrapping or strapping.

I have had multiple fractures and tendon pulls in the hands and the doctor recommend I wrap my wrists for a while after a bone in my wrist was chipped and cracked. In high level sports (such as Olympics) you see many athletes with all kinds of joint strapping and taping. Lots of pro athletes do it also, and every football team has trainers that wrap and tape all kinds of joints on the players for all kinds of problems. This all comes at a very high cost and I sincerely doubt they would pay the costs of trainers tapping and wrapping if it was just for show. That said, There are numerous ways to wrap a joint for support depending on where the problem is your goal for the purpose of wrapping it. I do like wrapping the hands and wrist with a non-stretch cloth, and think it is the best way to support the bones in the wrist and hands from banging together when punching.

[QUOTE=ventanakaz;46143]Personally I have never tried wrist wraps, but they are not for show. They do support your wrist, and if your worried about your wrist, then it wouldn't hurt to give them a try, btw I haven't got around to posting that slow vid of the 4-way elbow for you, Sorry. I've been getting back into dirt jumping my mountain bike and I'm revamping one of my jumps. It's back breaking work, digging and moving dirt around and cutting logs. I'll get a vid up when I can, sorry about that...ralph[/QUOT

thanks for the info..will enjoy the video when you make it...question will we get to see a video of you on your mountain bike that would be awesome maybe in the air going over one of your jumps.

My gloves have wrist wraps built into them. I like to pump up the bag to 7 psi. Very stiff. Miss reverse hit contacting the wrist will smart the next day. Sore spot can linger... So yeah, they work.
Don't buy your speed bag from the same place you buy your tackle box.

            yeehaw :-D
You have a lot of work ahead of you. We agree the jump should be moved over some and made a little higher. My husband used to ride bikes a lot.
You do know it is a lot harder on a bike than a motor bike. You have to pedal just right to hit those jumps right. keep us posted please and please don't hurt yourself I still am looking forward to your speed bag video.
