NewBEE - Need Advice - Thanks in Advance !!!

The Original post was way too big - I appologize for that.

Here is the cut down version.

I have a ringside 7 x 11 bag, it is way too big for me to control at my experience level. So for the following requirements and experience level I would really appreciate some advice.

Supplier: CUrrently I am concentrating on Title - they have the quickest response to date:

    Experience Level: New
Need 1: Whatever bag is easiest for me to learn the basics with
    Need 2: Speed and Accuracy
Need 3: Use Speed Bag Training to increase speed and accuracy with boxing
Training: Currently training in Boxing and Self-Defense
Why: I may have to defend myself and my mother outside of a
courtroom until the cops get their

My research has narrowed my choices down several bags - but I am stumped

Right Now I am leaning toward the Title Leon simply because I simply like the quality of the leather on the Leon Double end bag I already have.

However I have also read this might be a bit difficult to get used too, but, since I am a newbee a different bounce from other bags may not matter,

Learning speed efficiency to support boxing and self-defense training is the biggiee here.... plus being as quiet as possible.

SO with that in mind - I humbly request advice on would be the best bag for my needs at this time
    Title Leon (6.5 x 9.5)
    Title Red (6 x 9)
    Title Yellow (5 x 8)
    Title Classic (6 x 9)
    Fighting Sports Pro Speed Bag (6 x 9, or 5 x 8)
    Title Gyro (6 x 9 )

or other suggestions would be \ FANTASTIC TOO !!

Any input WILL BE Greatly Appreciated !!!!

Thank you so much for your time even if you don't reply.

    Have a great one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep - A lot of Info

Thank you for the welcome !!!

I cut down my original Post size above - sorry about that, but here is even a shorter version.

Basically looking for advice on the best size and speed bag to increase efficiency with boxing and self defense training. It also needs to be as quiet as possible. I have read that either a 6 x 9, or an under inflated 5 x 8 might be the best. I have an 11 x 9 Ringside now, but I cannot control it. I have already used a lot of advice on the forum for positioning of the bag and reducing the noise level.

The Bags I am down to are:

        Title Leon (6.5 x 9.5)
        Title Red (6 x 9)
        Title Yellow/Gold (5 x 8)
        Title Classic (6 x 9)
        Fighting Sports Pro Speed Bag (6 x 9, or 5 x 8)
        Title Gyro (6 x 9 )

So which of the above do you feel might work? Thanks !!!
        Thanks Loads !!!

You might think the bag is slow at first, but with training you can get it to move pretty good, I can get it to move fast with more and more time I spend on the bag. The draw back to hitting small light weight bags all the time is that your limiting you strength and punching power and speed, even though the small bags are fast you won't progress further. This is why I have light small fast bags and bigger heavier slower bags, I'm always changing up the bags to keep up my progression. If I just hit on the small bags I'll lose my power in punching and believe it or not my speed also. You or anyone can do this test, if you have light weight small bags and bigger heavier bags just hit on the small light weigh bags for about two weeks to a month, then go back to the heavier bags and you'll pretty much feel what I'm talking about...ralph
I agree with Ralph...and the FS 6x9 bag (it's one of my favorites). It's my "go to" for learning new combinations. I have not changed-out the bladder, as I find the bounce just fine from the beginning and the more I hit the bag, the better it seems to be...but that might be because it has built-up my punching power.

You should also hit different size bags like Ralph said. I find if I just hit a smaller bag for a few weeks and go back to a bigger/heavier one, I will feel it in my elbow joints. I usually start my workout with the bigger and work my way down to the smaller faster bags...and that seems to work for me. Of course, I hit for my health & fun...not fighting training.

                  defense

mikelight stage, are you sure this is the route you wanna take? you cant really "cram" for a potential fight. this is probably not going to help you a lot in the real world after a few weeks of practice. why not just get some mase to ward your possible attackers? or maybe hire somebody since it sounds like you have spent an awful lot of money on training equipment.
this stuff is fun and good exercise too. good luck.
the 9x6 fighting sports and 9x6 ringside are great bags for you. hope this helps...

                    You folks are absolutely phenomenal.

Thank you so much for your advice and concern !!!

OK Coffee time or maybe a brandy in front of the fire !!!!

My goal is not to go in guns blazing. The idea is deterrence through presentation. But this is not poker. Their is not such thing as calling my bluff. I am not bluffing. No one gets through to my Mother.

Yes I have spent a lot of money - but it started about 3 months ago. No that is not enough time to prepare for a long confrontation. If all goes wacky then looking at about 90 seconds and probably 30 seconds of that will be burnt up with posturing.

I Knew the Speed Bag had more value and actually Dee Mandeville revealed a bit of that to me. THANK YOU.

The unexpected consequences is multifold. There are a lot of good people out their. Here I am a guy none of you know and already I read posts of concern and well thought out advice. Also, I am not a confrontational kind of guy. Until recently I compared MMA to the Romans viewing individuals being ripped apart by the lions. Maybe some of that is true, but I learned, at least for those at the gym I am training at, is how ... how do I put it -,the guys and gals at Grudge Training are really .... they are great folks. They have heart. They have humility. They are honorable.

So here is the deal. Objective - deterrence through presentation. Deterrence through ability to avoid being hit. Deterrence through ability to deflect hits. Deterrence through self defense. But worst case - if need be - do I will end it. If I cannot end it, then remain active until the cops step in.

Heck I would not be here if it was not for my Mother. Ok that is the logical side. Part of the the training actually involves getting hit. I have to know what it is like so I can be prepared. Not quite the same as the real thing since I will be wearing protective gear by you get the point.

A body guard is not an option. Additionally, Pepper spray or bear spray or whatever will not be allowed into the courtroom. The worry is more out of the courtroom Plus anything you carry with you can always be taken away and used against you.

WHen I first started building the Boxing gear up it was strickly for self defense training. Then one day when I was really frustrated I nailed the heck out of the stuff and found it to be a great stress relief. Then I found I actually enjoy hitting the heavy bag, and multiple double end bags and went right to using the home gym that has been dormant for at least 3-years. I knew the Speed bag had to have more too it. You folks have given me a different target . I know I can enjoy the bagging too. The beauty of all of this is when it is all over I have a phenomenal set of gym gear to enjoy. Their is also the beginning of a long term positive relationship with the Grudge Training Gym members and staff. Who would think such great intense positive experiences would come out of all of this. And now all the help form a forum I joined less than 48 hours ago. I am just flabbergasted with .... I just cannot appropriately express my appreciation.

For those of you that have not responded you have also yielded extremely valuable information. You have verified my goals and targets are not to be taken lightly.

Deterrence, Self Defense, and later a new set of chapters in my life.

                    Gotta Love it.

My first choice was the Leon bag, but what I did not say was my second was the FS bag. What is amazing is how close I was and how many confirmed my research.

I am just rambling now. Thank all of you so much for you input, advice, and concern.

No one is getting through to hurt my Mother again. You have all just helped me achieve that goal - so pat yourselves on the back - you deserve it. To repeat - the idea is deterrence through presentation.

One of these days I'll have to take a snapshot of the speed bag platform I built. It's actually kinda' kauuulllll.....
Nothing like it on the market. The short description I need an adjustable platform to suspend from an i-beam but without the sliding rods dropping down from the ceiling that go past that platform when it is higher than the lowest supporting rod. Easier to picture than describe.

After this is all over - I can really see where I could get addicted to Bagging. Plus, whether anything happens or not - bagging is a part of my training. I already have an affection for it.

                    GOTTA LOVE IT !!!!!

                    My best to all !!!

Thank you again so much !!!

Thank you for your concern. I am not going into this blind or cocky. The idea is deterrence through presentation and preparation. I do not expect to be an expert.

The beauty of it all is - after it is all over - I will have one heck of a workout set of gear.

This is a long term health advantage.

                        Via con dios

As long as you realize what you're doing. I'm sure you will be fine. Cool calm quiet people are the most intimidating. Always keep your head about you.
Skipping rope is great exercise and helps to keep light on your feet. If it came down to it a quick shot to the throat will usually immobilize your attacker.
I really doubt if anyone is going to take a can of mace away from an older woman even In A courtroom. Couldn't hurt.
Also careful with your estimate of time for police or others for intervention. Ever see a movie called dazed and confused?
Good luck and don't forget to stick with it even after things settle down. The bag helps both body and soul.

                          Thank you again

No room for skipping rope in the basement, but heck I can pull the car out of the garage. Good idea.

Unfortunately the guards at the front entrance to the court building will confiscate Mace from anyone.

Kool and collected, keeping my wits about me and the physical prep will all help me in the courtroom. The opposition remembers me as a weak timid individual. The training and preparation for the case have changed all of that. My training has already improved my posture. That alone, plus an additional level of perceived confidence may be all we need - if that is the case it is unprovable that the training has helped - but I will know it has.

This is all really quite positive. I am already seeing the benefits. The fantastic people at the gym and the folks on this forum.

After it is all over I will keep bagging and using the fabulous gym equipment.

Thank you all again so so soooooo much.

                          Have a great one!

You indicated that you didn't want to go in guns blazing. Plus you're learning. In need of advice. I feel that you can justify a 7X10... As well as, do it cheap.

7X10. Perfect for MMA, advancing combos, and control. That would be a great size bag to get, after mashing the basketball you had hanging up. Graduate to smaller, and smaller.

Think about a cheap bag, or a used one. Or just take somebody's bag. Most here have had gone through a couple of bags, in a couple of months... Get a cheap bag, and tear in up!

So a perfect medium bag would be a 7X10, that's free, and will get killed as you get better. You will need the next one.

Repeat or then, go on line and get a bunch at once... You will need all shapes and sizes. Perhaps two 7X10's and two 6X9's. Down the future after you; get used to, master, or are bored. Get 5X8's...
Don't buy your speed bag from the same place you buy your tackle box.

Bag Sizes - Reply - Thank You

                              Niki Knuckles,

I'll check at the Gym and see if they have any old bags they want to get rid of cheap - Great Idea!

Definitely was and am planning on walking down on sizes as I get better. I deflated my basket ball a bit, and it slowed it down to where it does not bounce all over the place. Then I tried a smaller bag at the gym today - I was a little better, and the smaller bag is definitely easier to control. I think it was a 6 x 9. But then again it was a Cleto Reyes Bag. The new 6 x 9 should be here in a few days.

                              Training is going very well.

Thank You for the Advice !!!!! Greatly Appreciated.
