Does anyone have experience with this particular platform? I don't see it mentioned here on the forum much but it interests me.
Yes, I have the same one from Valor Athletics. Well made and stable with stock drum. There are several companies that market this design under their own name. Probably made by the same overseas shop. I hung one on a free standing platform and am happy so far. Replaced the factory drum with one I made from maple for even more stablity.

...Sweet, you put some time in that. I recall seeing that freestanding wood frame on YouTube and the guy gave directions on how to build it, you did a great job with yours. BTW how thick is your drum and where did you get it ?
Thanks, I am the same youtube guy. I made the new drum myself. It's about 1 5/8" thick. I started with 1 3/4" but the board had a twist so I needed to plane off 1/8" to get it flat.
This is wonderful to see. Such nice finish work everywhere! I was asking about this design because I had heard that these platforms were very solid. I'm guessing that the extra weight is necessary because of the custom drum?
