    silencing a speed bag platform

This isn't my exact platform but its similar to this. I have an everlast all metal ball hook swivel and a 24" pine circle from lowes as by board. I also have two sandbags on top of it to reduce any vibration and it muffles a bit of the noise. Its still kind of noisy and I was wondering if there were any tips I could get on quieting it down. I get off work at 8 and would like to hit it late without pissing off the neighbors. Only thing I could think of would be getting a denser board (like oak) to either replace or add to the pine. Thanks all

Is the noise coming from (1) the board vibration (2) that bag slapping the board or (3) clanking of the swivel. Each may have its own distinct noise and possible solution.

      figured things out

My mother in law welds so she's going to build me something like this.

Definately a more solid setup, on top of that I'm going to get a deville swivel next month because I think most of the noise is coming from the everlast swivel I currently am using. Vibration is probably second and bag noise last. You should have heard it before I added the sandbags up top and re enforced it by drilling a 2 x 4 from a ceiling beam to the top of the drum. So noisy! Anyways when I get everything installed I'll post pictures of my new setup and what I used to have. As far as the drum I'll either glue/laminate some more disks together or keep my eyes out for a thick 24" round table to cut the legs off of

        duct tape

I saw that on the website and tried it a couple months ago which worked pretty well for a bit but eventually where the shank hit it wore through the duct tape and I haven't reapplied it since. I think I'm going to have her teach me how to weld. It's a skill I wish I had learned in high school or had my dad teach me before he moved to Canada. How does the everlast ball, eyebolt, and s hook in the deville base stand up? Do you just prefer it because it hits the shank as opposed to the eyebolt on the deville?
