4 hit technique, is that wrong?

Newbie here, I'm not a boxer.

I've been doing a 4 hit method, is that wrong? (I hit the bag as its going away from me after the 4th hit on the platform)

I've seen other people doing 3 hit. (Hitting the bag coming towards them)

Also I've been hitting it with the side of my hand, should I use my knuckles instead?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello Abefroman. welcome to the forum, and as a newbie you will only get a courtesy ticket for hitting the bag repetitively from the same side after an even number of rebounds (4th by your admission, going away from you).

Actually, only "trappers" (those that punch the bag as it going away from them or just as it hits the board, and trap it (killing all movement), pinning it to the board. This is clearly legal and demands much skill and timing, but hitting (punching) the bag to keep it going as it is swinging away from you is clearly illegal and could be reported to the speed bag police as a violation, punishable by - well, you don't really want to know

As a newbie, you probably need to review the Please review the Speed Bag Rules of Rhythm

    * of course you know the above is completely tongue-in-cheek. If you have the timing and skill to hit the bag repetitively from any side after 4 rebounds, that's fine. Different, possibly illegal, but fine.
