    Watcha think?

How hard would this be to convert to a platform? 24" is just enough...

If it's a solid wood top with uniform thickness, it's definitely doable.

I don't even think you'd have to do that much, just take the legs off and attach it to a frame, mount a swivel and I think you'd be all set.

Let us know how it works out.

I'd be leery of that door to be honest with you. A lot of people will say it's a solid wood door but not realize it's hollow, or that the core is pine with only a maple veneer.

The only way to tell for sure would be to remove the door knob assembly, but even then it might not tell you much since the outer edges could be solid with a pine core. I'd be afraid if you cut it, you'd have a softwood inner with maple veneer on the outside. As a matter of fact, I'd almost bet on it.

              yup, nice call, guys!

              I am sorry.

The door is solid core but not solid maple.

              Thank you,

              Scott

Keep looking, I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Ninja420 dropped me a PM last night and he had a great idea for making a drum out of 4x4's.

You'd have to get one that was at least 9 feet long and then plane it on at least two sides, preferrably all four sides to get it square, then cut the board into 3 foot lengths and glue it up.

You'd then have a board that would be 3" thick x 36" x 36". That thing would be very sturdy and inexpensive.

Again, the credit goes to Ninja420, not me, but it's a great idea I think.
