Powermill Swivel...too fast for its own good?

I got my powermill swivel about a month ago and couldn't wait to use it. I live in an apartment now and I can't setup a platform at my residence, so I was able to convince the owners of my local gym to switch out their everlast u-bolt swivel with the powermill. Let me tell you this thing is awesome. So fast and smooth...within two weeks I felt my skills improving.

Last night I went to the gym prepared for a nice speedbag session only to find the everlast swivel back up. Soooo pissed. It turns out that they were getting a lot of complaints from other people because it was too hard to control. What adds insult to injury is that I just signed a one year contract with this gym.

Cliff, ask if they will put up an additional platform.

I was VERY frusrurated switching from a u-bolt to a ballhook at first. Made me feel like i was progressing backwards at first because the ballhook reacts so true with the way you hit it. Once u get the feel of it there is no going back. the u-bolt removes the ultimate challenge of true control.

        that sucks man. : (

I've only ever hit a ball hook swivel. anything less would feel like training wheels I imagine.

yeah, i remember when I first started all I wanted was a swivel that went forwards and back just so I could get the handle of it. So I understand the complaints. I just wish they wouldv'e kept it there longer so people could get the feel of it.

People like things to be easy. Disappointing for sure but surprising? No, not really. Sorry dude.

It is not so much that it is too fast, but rather that it is too accurate. The direction of the rebound is a direct reflection of the quality of the fist strike. Takes a lot more hitting accuracy to keep it in control. At any rate, just chalk it up to the fact that it is an advanced tool in the speedbag arsenal, and most people hitting in the gym don't really want to advance in the art of speedbagging. They just want to hit a bag and have it bounce back to them.

StevieMac - you're dead on. And Avadia...you're right too. I was originally going to name the post "Too good for its own good", but i thought it was a little too redundant. But the thing was super fast non-the-less.

Yours has a miniature motor installed in the ball. i didnt wanna say anything.....but it runs off of a small nuclear cell i implanted in it. It makes it super fast! lol

BTW are you working on a new batch of swivels?

Yours has become my favorite swiv. Mysteriously, the metal on metal sound that I don't particularly like has either gone away or my ears just filter it out with consistent use. In any event, I'm looking forward to getting another one.

Absolutely, 100% True. The ball hook is only a mirror reflecting what you gave it.

Great Idea! Put up a sign:

Rack 1, Ballhook swivel, open to all.

Rack 2, U-bolt swivel, open to all - but mostly whiny babies who can't use Rack 1: (* not including Scissorhands, who hits superbly on a "U"." He'd be scary on a Ballhook.

Ball hooks take some getting used to but they flow more naturally

I been using a ball hook swivel for years, I started with it. ( back when everlast was making them with metal ) I tried using u hooks a few times but it felt mechanical and slowed me down.
