I have more than 100 hours on an everlast plastic base coupled with a Watkins ball, using a touch of light grease every so often. No significant wear on either.
Eagerly awaiting one of Ryan's Powermills for the metal-on-metal experience and some extra balls to try with plastic bases.
From my experience, most swivel wear is caused by the eye being pushed too far into the ball causing part of the eye to hit the outside of the housing. Older Everlast eyes caused this problem because they were not fully rounded. You can see the notch worn into one of my eyehooks from the old days below. The present eyehook that comes with the plastic swivel is more rounded at the top but it is still possible to push it in so far that the eye hits the housing. You'll probably have to enlarge the photo to see what I'm talking about.
