    metal ball hook sound dampening?

I would really like to get a metal ball hook swivel. i have an everlast standard plastic ball S hook now. The reason i purchased the plastic was they are pretty quiet, but i'm itching to try a metal ball hook, is there any good way to quiet them down just a bit, so i could have the best of both worlds, the smoothness, and durability of the metal, and the low noise level of the plastic?

Not that i know of. I can get you a precision machined ball that will fit your plastic base perfectly. Just doubt its gonna be the same performance as metal on metal though. If interested send me a pm.

I think the platform thickness and area u hit in makes a big differance on noise also.

Just mounted my new Powermill sviw. It made exactly the noise I expected. No more no less. My old chainlink (wich I am very fond of) is quieter, due to the fact that no metal hook hits no metal housing. Different design makes different abilities.

I just put a 50 lbs bag of sand on top of my drum today and I'll be damned if it didn't cut the noise by at least 2/3's. Banged away today for about 45 minutes and it was a lot quieter. Even my wife downstairs said it was significantly quieter.

Plastic base with metal ball is a great combo if you want quiet (well maybe not quiet , but more quiet) . Just take an everlast plastic base and stick a metal ball and hook in.

The noise in most metal ball hooks is the metal on metal contact.
