    Our favorite headache.......NOT

One of my favorite films is Shoot 'Em Up with Clive Owen. In it he tends to go off on rants and starting said rants with "You know what I hate" . In that vein I'll just say ...why the f@#$ does changing the F#$%ing bladders have to suck sooo much. The kicker is I got the cursed thing out only to NOT FIND A LEAK! Arrrggghhhh! After fighting to get the beast back in the bag and filling it up with air. I discovered much my chagrin the bag started losing air! Arrrggghhhh again and again and again!

    Bladders..........

MD, you have just reminded me that I that I recently got a new/used Everlast 4213 from Ebay and when I put the needle in, the valve stem broke apart., so I didn't get to fill it and try it. I ordered what I thought was the correct replacement bladder from Sports Authority (took 10 days) and they sent me a round bladder for a double-ended bag. Bummer. Now they are going to try and send me the correct bladder (another 10-14 days) and I not feel real confident they'll send me the correct one. But If I do get the right sized one, I can now look forward to installing it (I've never done one before). It should be lots of fun for a first-timer, but hopefully one of these days, I'll be able to hit my new bag. I'm a novice, so I like to try different bags and see how they work for me.

They say misery loves company, so that's why I'm telling you my little story. I enjoy your posts and videos, and I feel your pain even though I haven't got my new bladder yet. See ya, Steve (Newbagger)

Probably a slow leak from the valve. It is fine when it's inflated but under punching pressure it will fail, leting a bit of air escape. After lots of punches you'll notice it has lost enough to effect performance.

My suggestion is if you're replacing an Everlast bladder in one of their training bags is to get the right size Title bladder. They hold air better. Also the valve sticks straight out and doesn't have that outer lip which is a pain getting thru the hole, especially because of the extra thickness of the bag were the label is. You can trim off the excess valve stem so it wont rake across your hand if you slide under the bag. They may recommend rubber cementing around the valve but I didn't bother. I used a glue type patch once and it stuck the bladder to the bag, causing problems later. Still a pain in the a' to do but my Everlast bag is finally usable. Don't know about the quality of the pro Everlast bag bladders, haven't heard and complaints.

Here's another reason I love just about every bag Title makes - BLADDER CHANGES ARE EASY

They recommend the rubber cement method:

              1. Deflate bladder
              2. Take it out, turn speed bag shell inside out.
              3. There is usually a reinforced area on either the new bladder or the bag where the valve protrudes through.
              4. Rubber cement the valve in place. I actually used "contact cement" from Home Depot. I use a C-Clamp to hold the bladder firmly in contact with the shell while it's drying
              5. let it sit 45-60 minutes
              6. Turn the whole thing right side in again. The rubber cement will keep the bladder/valve in the proper spot as you do this.
              7. Pump it up!

I successfully did this with about a half dozen bags for SPEED B.A.G. 2010

The key with the title bags is you don't have to jam the valve through the hole, it's an easy fit, but you do have to rubber cement it in place to hold it in the right spot. Add'l bag changes are easy, with enough force the rubber cement will yield and the bladder will come back out.

In comparison with Everlast you have to jam the valve through the hole, which I find to be darn near impossible, although I know Vini has the "string" method to do it... I tried but just couldn't get it done.

Title Boxing ROCKS as a company, and their support for speed bagging, speed baggers and a few other humanitarian projects for Boxing/Training you might not know about, is truly amazing. From the management team to the phone order staff, they are top quality and stand by their products.

Tim, that's a good method, I didn't have any glue but what I got with tire patches. I figured as long as the bladder held enough air it wouldn't slip back in. Title bladders keep air very well compared to the Everlast training bags. On the "string" method, I used a very fine piece of fishing line to make a full hitch knot around the valve and stuck that thru the hole and pulled on it. I still had to use a jewelers screw driver to pry the valve thru. Much easer to use a Title bladder.

I don't have a problem with the snap in valves. I just slightly enlarge the hole, it pulls right into place with little effort.

Well, what I ended up doing was completely removing the bladder of course and using the old inner tube fix method: fill a sink or bucket with water, inflate the tube (bladder in this case), submerge and look for air bubbles. Luckily, the leak was at the top, not the valve (whew). Found my bicycle patch kit, patched the leak , got the baladder back int the bag carefully using a pair of needle nose pliers, (MAJOR P.I.T.A!!) inflated and let it set all day and night to see how much air I would lose. This morning no air loss. Took it to the garage at 6:30 this morning and got some hitting done. Since the average temp around these parts are in the teens with those ever-so-fabulous wind chills, I'll check on it later on today or tonight after work for any air loss. It hit fine this morning. I also have the Century speed bag bladder to check for leaks also. The bag has alot of nicks, so I may use the bladder as a back up. If I continue to have issues, the skeet shooting idea might come to fruition!!!
