Hello,
I've been a casual user of this site for the past couple of years..
I had a basic set-up in my last house, and got ideas for this forum.
I since moved (and sold all of the equipment) into a condo, and thought my speed bagging days were over. (or I would find a local place)
It's been a year, and I got the bug. I miss it and need to do something about it.
My fear is upsetting the neighbors. No local places available (nearby).
I found the best location in my unit.
I live on the top floor. There is a corner in my bedroom that has two external walls. I figure this would cause the least amount of noise.. the rest of the walls feel cheap with their metal studs every 24".
I plan to mount two horizontal 2x6's to the wall, before mounting the platform to those.. as suggested here.
(I narrowed down my platform to the I-box, again from discussions here.. thank you)
I read how some mount thick carpet between the wood & the drywall..
I searched.. but I have not seen if anyone has used sound deadening material, such as vinyl sheets.. (the non-asphalt kind).
Similar to the well known Dynamat, or the type found here:
http://www.parts-express.com
I was also thinking it might make sense to place strips of this on the top, and inner walls of the frame of the i-box, and even atop the drum to reduce resonance.
It's self-stick, easy to apply.. dense.. might look nicer than bits of shag rug stuck to my wall..
Any thoughts, or experience with this or similar material?
And, finally, thank you for the wealth of knowledge, and passion!
