I am interested in this type of platform

Hi, let me start off by saying that i may not post here much but i am always checking out the forums as you guys have a great community here.

Anyways, my question is regarding the V-shape type of speedbag platforms, i have heard great things about them but i am curious to know if one brand is better than the other one? they seem pretty much the same so i am thinking of just getting the cheapest one i can find. here are some examples:

    Balazs i-Box Speed Bag Platform

TITLE Platinum 12" Adjustable Speed Bag Platform

Fighting Sports Pro Adjustable Speed Platform

    Thank you!

I believe all 3 come from the same manufacturer.

Balazs is a strong supporter of our sport, and this community specifically, as they provided platforms for our SPEED B.A.G. 2010 event. They offer outstanding customer service, but most important of all the quality is off the charts.

I'd buy the Balazs model. You will *NOT* be disappointed.

i tried a balaz platform once at a gym and was very impressed. i dont know if it was their i-box or one of their more heavy duty expensive ones. i was punching a jumbo bag as hard as i could and the platform didnt shake at all. the swivel actually broke from the beating, but the platform didnt mind at all

it looks like everlast put a new economy V bracket platform on their site. it looks pretty nice

I agree with Tim. I'd roll with the Balazs platform. Might even find one on Craigslist or ebay if lucky.

Excellent choice, however The 24 inch board will be a bit short for the largest bags available. Any of the three would be great boards for a mid size or small bag.

Just wanted to put this out there since it was in the running. This setup will be on sale end of the month along with a couple other platforms and bags

I haven't hit this one so can't speak to its stability, but I really like the sleek look and adjustment system. It doesn't have all the U-Bar and bolts around it. Probably have to figure a way to drill the swivel holes through the top if you change swivels much. As several of us know, the Fighting Sports brand bags are excellent, so I imagine their other equipment is also.

Here is another one that I use at a gym. Everlast made by Balazs. Notice where the plate and beams are in the center of the board on top. If you want to drill thru the board to use bolts and nuts to hold the swivel you will probably hit the beams. May be able to drill and tap 1/4" holes for the screws. I recommend keeping the original screws as long as possible by not removing them any more than necessary and not tightening them to the point of stripping out the holes. If they do strip try filling the holes with maybe glue and saw dust packed in tight then working up to a little longer or fatter screws when that fails. If one set of holes wares out you could rotate the mount a quarter turn and start over. This may never be a concern but unlike the Everlast boards that are accessible on top these are blocked. Also the wood may be denser and less prone to stripping out.

Very nice. That's the high end model. Must be built like a tank.

Balasz has been provided feed back on that. I told them if they ever do a major re-design , try and find some way such that the swivel can bolt on , all the way through...

                      Tim,

Good lookin out on that suggestion to Balazs. This rig is starting to develop sounds like something is loosening but I haven't determined what yet. I did put washers on the adjustment knobs when I first started to help tighten up on the slots. It's pretty solid, there is the usual vibration on the front and side edges of the board where the metal plate doesn't reach out to add support.
