    Newbie here, Hi

Hi everyone. I am an old dude, but I like hitting that bag and was glad to find this forum.

I just purchased, before I found this site, a Valor Fitness CA2 adjustable platform. Anyone have any comeents on this platform, good or bad (I have thick skin)??

I am also working with an Everlast 4210 bag for now, working on my rhythm and technique. I want to move to a smaller bag as soon as I get up some "extra" funds.

Any suggestions and hints are welcome. I have looked at some of the videos you guys (and girls) have posted and all I can say is........ DAMN ! I am going to have to work hard to even get close to some of those workouts!

    Great site, thanks !

You wont find a better resource than here for speedbaggin. All i can say is start off with a U-bolt swivel. Meanwhile keep your eye open for an all metal ball hook on craigs list. As far as bags i am not sure what the everlast 4210 is. As far as bags i know title 8x5, promex 8x5, and an everlast 6x4 are excellent. Most importantly.....have LOTS of patients! You can start with getting the speedbag bible (highly recommend). Its great fort the exercises! Really takes you from your first hit....to being a speedbag ninja. As far as your setup...put a 25lb bag of salt or sand on top with a bungee cord to hold it in place for reduced vibration! Good luck!

      Hey Old Dude. Welcome.

your Valor Fitness CA2 is a fine unit and looks to be almost exactly like the TITLE Boxing Precision Adjustable Speed Bag Platform

by the way, you can get some great smaller speed bags at Title also.

Glad to have you has a member. We look forward to seeing you punch 'em up.

Hey ssdvc, welcome to the forum. We all started our journey with that first step. Patience, practice and perseverance. You'll be surprised at how quickly you progress. This is the place to learn all about bagging.

BTW, there are many other "old dudes" on here as well.

Thanks Everyone. I'll pick up a U bolt swivel this week. I am current using an Everlast Pro swivel. I am also going to order the bible.

As for hitting that bag, I am amazed at some of the vids I have seen. I am in awe of the ease, speed and grace at which some of you hit that bag. you make it look easy. It will take me a while, quite awhile, to get to that level.

I do want to get a really good bag, so any suggestions, keeping in mind my beginner status, would be appreciated. I do have the 1,2,3, strike rhythm down and can go several minutes with that beat. Now what to step up to something harder.

The platform is really stable, 2x6 mounted to the wall studs and then a piece of 3/4 " plywood bolted to that. Nice and solid.

              Welcome to the forum!
It's never too old to start getting into the speedbag! Sounds like you have a good solid set up and now the fun starts. Sometimes it's hard to recommend speed bags as it's often down to personal preference and what's easy to get hold of, here in the UK it's pretty limited. It might take trying a few eventually and you'll find the one that appeals the most.

Good luck, don't forget to post a video sometime and let us know how you're getting on.
