    eBay score....hopefully.

Just picked this up off eBay. Looks to be an old Everlast metal ballhook. That's mostly what I bought it for, the bag is just gravy.

Hopefully it is what it looks like.

That's one of the last generation metal hooks with the plastic mounting flange.

Look pretty cool, bag looks in decent shape too. Let me know how it hits.

        Yep, exactly right.

The bag is typical Everlast, a little light, and spongy.

The swivel is alright. I was expecting a bit more out of it, so I am a bit disappointed. The ball is a little off as far as the sizing goes for the housing, so there is some catching which slows it down a bit. Also, the shank of the eyehook hits the housing very early, which I feel affects the rebounds, and speed.

My favorite swivel is easily my plastic housing with my custom Operator metal ball. I have another one of those metal balls, I may see if I can piece together an all metal swivel using this one, and that.

          Reno,
How long did it take to get used to the coarseness of the Operator iron ball? Did you find that it wore out the plastic housing quickly?

I'm interested in other's experience with this ball.

          Thanks,

          Jim

I have had (and still do) several of this style swivel. You're biggest problem point may be the threads on the plastic base. Be sure to not overtighten the metal ball housing when screwing it onto the plastic base. If you do you can easily strip those plastic threads.

It didn't take me long at all. I feel like the iron smoothed out a bit in the first 5-7 hours of use. I've been using it in the same plastic base for about 30 hours now, and there is some wear to the base, but not a lot.

I think all ball hook swivels will wear out eventually. Unless someone has a titanium design out there......

Makes sense, I'll make sure to watch myself if I ever need to tighten it down again.
