    Speedbag repairing

    Hi everyone,

    my brand new speedbag exploded today (not the bag but the bladder) ... after 3 days

    I tried to repair the 10mm crack with a Pool Repair-Kit, without Results.

    Don't exactly know what kind of material the bladder's made from. Silicone??

    Does anyone ever tried repairing the bladder and had success? Or do I have to buy a replacement bladder?

    Thanks folks!

    you can try rubber cement if it is a rubber bladder - if plastic then you may need some type of superglue to weld the materials together.

    If you just got the bag - I would take it back to the store....

    Keep in mind if you overinflate the bag - this may happen , although I can't imagine this is what happened. - also if you bite at your bags this may happen as well.

    I would return it and get another - what kind of bag is it ? did you get from a store on online ?

      It's a kind of rubber (color: orange) What I'm sure of, I isn't PVC

      I bought it from a local online store http://www.budoten.net and it's a Hayashi

      The bag came already inflated.

      I know where the "explosion" came from. The, hmmm how should I call it ... "Protection device" which should have been directly above the bladder (not the attachement eyelet), protecting it from direct contact with the swivel, wasn't at it's destined place

      During my workout it probably hit the swivel at a unfavorable place leading to the "explosion".

        3 days is not a very long time; you should consider returning it if possible. Maybe you overinflated with too much pressure. Definitely don't bite it as jaguilar suggests!

        I recently patched a bladder with a bicycle inner tube patch kit. You need to score the rubber first and make it is clean - alcohol swap is good for cleaning. Then follow the directions and be patient to let it dry, otherwise you'll rip open the patch.

          Then again, speedbag bladders are very cheap: http://store.titleboxing.com/speed-b...-bladders.html

            @BillyMack

            It was already inflated.

            I'll try it with the patch kit, thx for the advise.

            @Chris M

            Pretty nice shop, I've already ordered an Everlast gear bag and paid three times the price of the bag (OK, you will never get the bag in Europe, yeap that's where I live) ... for shippment costs, VAT & Custom Taxes ...

              i wouldnt mess around with it. bladders are pretty inexpensive, and readily available as well.

                  blown bladder

                  Very doubtful that any action of the swivel led to your bladder explosion. there is no way the swivel contacts the bladder unless it extrudes out the top. That should only happen on a "doctored" bag that was already opened and the top tongue leather was not re-inserted properly. I've never seen a new bag with a misplaced top leather piece. Sometimes they are "beat" out of shape, but yours was a new bag.

                  Most likely a bad spot in your bladder that gave on a hard contact. Most quick "explosions" of blow-outs that happened to me were on the bladder seam, which gave widely on a big punch, and once an air nozzle failed and the air blew out the bottom.

                  most holes or breaks on the seam of the bladder didn't patch well. But those were older style bladders, and some I've seen lately have no detectable seams.

                  What country do you live in? Most countries have some type of "gift" clause that lets merchandise come in as a "gift" without the high import tax.
                  It's been known to happen that sometimes myself and others have gotten the USA bags and sent them as "gifts" to work around the import tax of other countries.

                    Swimming pool repair kits can come really handy in a lot of conditions. You need to perhaps see a specialist who can repair your speed bag. If you know about the stuff a pool lit comprises of, you can easily repair some of the pool equipment by yourselves. Although, if you ever need pool repair it is always best to call a guy specializing in Swimming Pool Equipment Repair.
