i love that swivel....just got it today and replaced my chainlink with it. i was getting frusturated with my reverse hits and couldnt seem to dial them in good. changed out the swivel and wow what an immediate differance. maybe its just the way i hit, but its better for me. i ordered a watkin metal ball hook and i called them today. its on an 8 week back order cause they are redoing the threads and bolt pattern to be compatable with the everlast housing. they said they have "hundreds" on back order.

Yes, Scissorhands can RIP a U-bolt incredibly fast. But notice virtually all his cominations are basically Front-to-Back in direction. If and when he starts adding in a lot more side punches and hitting more from all around the bag I bet he's going to find it a bit more difficult to control.Originally posted by paranday View PostUnless your name is Scissorhands...
Notice in the First video below Skunk is ripping a bag on a u-bolt swivel by Jim Bradley company in Australia. Deano brought it over. (thanks for that!) this has to be the fastest swivel I have ever seen and hit "in one direction" on the wide open side of the swivel. Note the swivel direction below and how it does not waver, showing excellent bag contact on Skunks part, and a rock steady "bolt" on the swivel.
I found it very difficult to control when mixing side techniques, because hitting the bolt from the side (closed side of the swivel) does not move the base part inside the housing. It means the rebound has to be made from the bag strap until the swivel turns, and there is a speed difference when that occures.
And notice below that Skunk had a problem controlling side punches also. IMO, his control issue is NOT the bag, because he can own this bag at supersonic speed. The miss problems are totally because of the swivel shape and action. The swivel housing (which gives the real action) does not immediately change when hit from the side where the bar is straight. No amount of "skill or bag control" can change that .
In my opinion, this problem in magnified on the straight angle U-bolt. The control issue is better on the American made rounded U-Bolt shape, but still has problems switching when hitting from all around.Last edited by Speedbag; 07-12-2010, 09:55 PM.Speed Bag

Hey jumpcannon, as much as I hate to see it, I have lost faith in what this company says. Other members here have entered into what has to be called a nightmare in trying to get a swivel from them. When the first entered the scene they were pretty reliable and reasonable on shipping times. Now they seem to have become "excuse central", telling many tales to members, WHEN they can get them on the line. I am thinking of dropping my links to them from my site, NOT because they make a bad swivel, but their customer service has declined to the point to be non-existent.Originally posted by jumpcannon View Posti love that swivel....just got it today and replaced my chainlink with it. i was getting frusturated with my reverse hits and couldnt seem to dial them in good. changed out the swivel and wow what an immediate differance. maybe its just the way i hit, but its better for me. i ordered a watkin metal ball hook and i called them today. its on an 8 week back order cause they are redoing the threads and bolt pattern to be compatable with the everlast housing. they said they have "hundreds" on back order.

alan i do agree the U bolt is more difficult to hit side punches on than the ball hook because its not designed to go in all 4 directions.
I do believe if you angle your scissors (hands) correctly you can have the bag flow where you want it. you can see in the middle of my hitting sequence in this video I go right into side double punches. i also notice some Ubolts are better for side punches than others.Yes if i threw a ton of side punches in a row and back to to front back it would get more difficult, its just isnt designed to do that like the ball hook is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWVNHHrzkGYLast edited by SpeedBagScissorhands; 07-13-2010, 01:03 AM.

i wanna say hello mr. alan! i will probably just make my own ballhook then. it makes perfect sense about the added difficulty on direction changes with the ubolt. but i am not a ninja yet...lol. I was a cnc machinist for years and i was considering makin my own houseing and pressing a bearing race inside for the ball to glide on. should be very very smooth! maybe even give it a red anodized finish! i still have access to lathes/mills etc. so this would be a very simple project for me. i will post results when finished.Originally posted by Speedbag View PostHey jumpcannon, as much as I hate to see it, I have lost faith in what this company says. It might save some time for prototyping. I also saw a similar knob as a lamp shade finial but I was told "HANDS OFF!!!"

GREAT! the world awaits (1) a high quality reliable ball hook swivel and (2) a reliable source to get them. If you can provide both, you'll become a legend in the baggin world.Originally posted by jumpcannon View Posti wanna say hello mr. alan! i will probably just make my own ballhook then. it makes perfect sense about the added difficulty on direction changes with the ubolt. but i am not a ninja yet...lol. spdyTommyT had a custom one that he built himself like that at SPEED B.A.G. 2010. It was indeed very smooth.Originally posted by jumpcannon View Posti I was a cnc machinist for years and i was considering makin my own houseing and pressing a bearing race inside for the ball to glide on. should be very very smooth!

Been there, sort of
I actually had to pull a bloated cow out of a pasture so a dead animal truck could haul it off. That was one bag of air I didn't want to pop. Talk about a Skunk bag, the stench!! Acutally this is a clevis, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clevis_pin. A very big one compairing it to the size of the saw and tackle box in the pic. You would attach it to a tractor draw bar using a pin and run a log chain thru it to whatever you were pulling or put it thru a ring on a piece of machinery to hitch it up. Some clivises have one hole threaded for a bolt and some use a bolt and nut but the clevis itself isn't a bolt. Interesting how things get different names.Originally posted by jumpcannon View Postlooks like a good ubolt to hang slaughtered cows....rocky style!
