When did you start speed bagging, and why?

I purchased my first real speed bag, the Title Classic.

Yeah, gotta get me that. I think that might be my next purchase.

Got a cheap platform secondhand last summer and have been trying to learn from youtube clips since then.

I saw your clip, and it really looks like you've come a long way! I'm jealous!

after a LONG hitting pause from a motorcycle accident, my daughter bought me an Everlast basic platform set about 4 years ago as a gift because I talked about how I loved hitting years ago but was afraid of hurting my rebuilt right shoulder. After that, I was addicted again.

I feel I'm catching the addiction, too! Sorry to hear about your accident, though.

Ahh, those blasted freestanding platforms! I had one, too. To much time and energy stablizing it.

Yeah! It really was a pain in the patoot! I finally got rid of it and purchased a wall mount.....now I wish I had it cuz my heavy bag is collecting dust!

Why did I start speed bagging?

One day I was doing some gardening, planting, pruning etc.. and I ran out of supplies.

So I went to the local garden centre and asked the person working there for 'a SEED bag'.

I was not looking at the time when I paid and when he put the items in to my car.

I got home and took out the box from the car and opened it up.

The person in the garden centre mis-heard me and sold me a SPEED bag by mistake!!

I was going to return it, but then I as I was already the custodian of the Golden Swivel I decided to make a drum, and the rest is history.

Hey everybody out there. I thought it would be interesting to find out from you all when you started speed bagging, and why? I always thought speed bagging was a cool looking, and fun excercise, but only now have gotten the opportunity to do it. I'm finding there is a ton of work, and dedication required to master the bag. Like anything it life, though, the more challenging the endeavor, the more rewarding the success. Thanks!

After viewing the rest of the forum, I discovered videos of the amazing stuff that people were doing on the speed bag. Shortly thereafter, I purchased Alan's 2 hour video, and have been hooked ever since. I don't think a day has gone by since December, that I haven't been in the garage trying to learn the ways of the speed bag.

I've always been doing some sort of physical activity ever since I was young. Grew up in Upstate NY playing hockey since I was 5 all the way up through college. In my mid teens a new rink was put up with a boxing gym inside which sparked my interest. Boxed for a while until jacking up my hand so I took time off which just snow balled with hockey, college and getting a real job. Ended up in Kansas working for Title Boxing which re-sparked my boxing interest which lead to everything but a boxing ring in my garage. Primarily got all this to change up my cardio training to go along with the weights I throw around at the gym but like others got bored with the 1-2-3 action quickly and got a copy of the Speed Bag Bible. The end.
