He should try a sandbag to keep the noise down. Tapcon screws into the spinal cord might help, too. Not a bad idea, but I just don't think that there is a demand for such a product.

        LOL!

I've got to give the guy credit for a creative idea! Alan could be his spokesman and sell it in infomercials.

The Original Portable Speed Bag device

The speed bag has attracted many fascinating and creative individuals. Some have created, modified or adapted the equipment in some amazing ways. The guy in this video made several versions of portable speed bags for the home, car and - well, for any man on the go.

            Been there, done that.

            Home shopping network
            QVC
            The Shopping Channel
            Univision and Telemundo
            Fitnessquest
..and several other mass marketing relating companies.

I've talked with these and a few others I can't remember about promotions concerning speed bag related informercial type promotions. All were fascinated at sporting good trade shows, and thought it would be a drop dead amazing show. Some wanted to develop new products and have them endorsed etc. Sounds great until you see YOUR front end costs for Television production (they don't pay for the production - you do) YOUR front end costs for equipment, book, video packaging and shipping to their warehouse, along with their cut of the profits.

...and research shows a home shopper wants a product they can purchase for less than $399.00, put together easily and use pretty easily within 30-45 minutes max. It must be all inclusive (equipment - freestanding that doesn't require construction on a wall), sturdy and ready for a beginner in a short time. AND it needs to look easy, - and I was reminded that it is hard for the average person to see me hit and really believe THEY could do that within an hour or so. Most shopping networks were not interested in JUST the book/video training program, for they don't want their customer/shoppers to buy something from them, and then go buy something else ( speed bag, board etc) from someone else (title, ringside, balasz etc). PS. at the time, there wasn't a decent, reliable freestanding frame on the market that a decent punch couldn't knock over. Personally, I couldn't send out hundreds or thousands of freestanding units in good faith that someone wasn't gonna sue me over damages from equipment mishaps.

Univision wanted the SBB all translated into spanish, and they said it would rock in south america and puerto rico. So, add in the translation costs....

so, yea, I've chased that infomercial bunny. Loan me $30K or so for the production costs, THEN buy the air time, then ship books, videos, speed bag stands, bags, swivels etc to their warehouse (HSN has a 25,000 piece minimal shipping requirement..) oh I forgot. Also pay for the book printings and DVD pressing in 4 color packaging. Whats another 10k or so....

Little to rich for my blood. Maybe this guy and his portable unit will fare better.

I've got to admit that the thing looks pretty funny.

I was thinking about this contraption last night and it seems to me that even if he makes this thing about 5 lbs that he claims to be able to, that thing would beat the hell out of you. Think of the problems we have sometimes keeping tapcons in concrete wall and then imagine all that vibration being strapped to you back.

Also, am I the only one who thought that the bag was too far away from the wearer?

i agree with the placement of the bag. you cant do very many things with it that far away. i just dont see to much of a demand for this product.
