However, I will comment on two things related to the platform. You are hitting it on the down swing, because the bag is so big, you ideally would move your platform up a bit. The belly (fattest part of the bag) should be at mouth level).
Also, that bag is so big, it looks like it's rebounding right on the edge of the platform. The bag is almost too big for the drum itself.
If you can, try a smaller bag. It will be quicker and work better with that particular platform, both the width of the drum and the height it is mounted.

well sir tim...as you see the bag...how big do you think it is?? like a 9x6 bag? like a 8x9?? or much bigger than those sizes? so i would know what size to choose ...whenever i might buy a new ones..and replace the old ones...
well actually the board was fitted with the bag..i already checked it out and it seems that the bottom part of the bag does not hit the edges of the drum at all... because the first time when i had this board it was only 20x20 inches in which i had to add 2inches more on each sides to make it 24x24... ( this is the recommended size of the board right???) and to make the bag avoid hitting the edges..
after adding up some more inches on each sides... it seems the bag was already fitted ,...but it still looks pretty big for the platform..
i dont know what to do.. should i need to add up again more inches to platform?? or this already measures right?(24"x24") it's just that my bag is too big???
thank you again for the answers..sir tim...i've been waiting for your reply here since i posted this ... good thing some fellow members also help me out with my problem
thanks guys!!

I agree with Tim, the platform is too low for that bag. And I agree with UKSpeedbag, check out the videos here,
With enough practice you'll be punching the bag like Manny Pacquiao and amazing all your friends. Bag on!

wellll daaaaaaaaaaamn sir..everybody's having a hard time measuring their speedbags! haha!!lol! =)
after seeing (mr.speedbag's) post on measuring a speedbag... as i measure it ...it is 11inches tall..13inches radius(belly) and i used a caliper to measure the bottom the speedbag in which it gave me a result of 8 inches...
so i doubt that it might be either of the two.... 11x13 or 11x8.....
after seeing sir tim's video.... his 11x8 does really response faster than the one i have.... so it might be really the poor quality of the bag...
i might consider buying a new one. a smaller one an 8x5?? or 6x4..either of the two...
pls keep the feedback going..pls. help me on this...on how will i get a good speedbag just like you guys have! very much welcome!!and thanks!
@sir tim: sir... i forgot to ask you.. how big your board is?? thanks sir! =)Last edited by ote888; 02-22-2010, 10:44 AM.

I watched your video and have to agree with Tim on your punching, a fix for this would be to adjust the platform up.
Wow, that is a very big bag! 11x8 sounds about right. If your going to buy another bag than go for something smaller like 10x7 or 9x6. Watch the Skunks tutorial video's from the link I left you and get the basic hitting correct.

Great Speed Bag Platform
Welcome to the forum, ote888!
My personal trainer (over 50-years experience) is very impressed with your platform. You have good support coming from the wall down to the far corner of the drum. This should give you good stability and less vibration when hitting.
After watching your video, he noticed that the bag is too big for the platform. But, then, the platform is pretty small. An easy "fix" would be to attach a little bit larger piece of plywood to the bottom of the platform, re-attaching the swivel to it. (By the way, I love the beefy hunk of wood you used. Looks really solid.)
I'm no expert, but, I think that you're not getting a good rebound due to the fact that the bag is extending beyond the platform and slamming into the edge of it, cutting into the momentum of the bag. I'll post some images so you'll see what I'm talking about. See how the bag is extending several inches past the wood platform?
If you make a larger surface for your bag to hit against, you will also make it safer for your arms and fists, as you get into elbow strikes, etc. (I think my platform is at least 32" in diameter and it's round, with some spongy material around the edges for safety.)
As for your bag... it looks like a good one. My personal favorite workout bag is the big red Everlast bag Ta:M.
Good luck, and I look forward to seeing more videos from you!

hey there dude! verrrrrrrrrryyy much thanks and i appreciated that you and your trainer likeeeeeeesss my platform very much!!
you might wanna tell him that he can visit me here in the philippines so i can make one for him!! hahaha!! LOL!!! just kiddin' ...
well sir....if you had just read my story on building this platform..it was like hell!!! haha...i really had a hard time thinking on how will i come up in a good and a very sturdy platform... good thing...i have it done very well...
it took for about a week.... having these angle bars welded.... and it was me whose very lucky that i found out the kind of wood.... it's verrry hard dude! even when you hit the wall with that wood... you would just hear the solid sound and wouldnt feel any vibrations at the wood at all...
well actually as i measured and checked it out..the bag does not hit the edges of the wood after all..... it just looks like one ....because the bag was pretty long......but then only the belly and the head of the bag hits the board(not the edge of the board)
...so even i add up some more inches of wood...it would be useless because the lower part of the bag (lower part of belly) does not hit the edge of the 24x24 board .... well i might go check it out again..and might listen on your suggestion! i know it might be a big help soon in case i became pro..and bought a larger bag right??? very thanks! sir
.
well i might buy a new one??? .....but a smaller one first..(since im still a newbie)...and i just want to make sure this time that it would bounce back fast...?? any suggestions there sir??? thanks!!

well here's the other one video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9uft099hkY
In either case, the bottom of the bag should be at your chin level.
In the first video you posted (standing on a platform) you were too high. In the second video (standing on the ground), you were too low.
Also, keep in mind that when you change bags (larger to smaller, or smaller to larger), you may have to re-adjust the height of the speed bag platform or the platform you are standing on so that the bottom of the bag is at chin level.
Good luck. Hope this isn't too confusing.
