    Progress already!

Ive only been hitting my bag for 2 weeks now... and already i can alternate hands with consistancy. I expected it to be moths before i could make that awesome noise. At my gym, the bag is over my head and i cant hit it as well but in my basement i put it right at eye level and i can smack it around pretty good. I have the rhythm down, its just that sometimes i hit the bag with the wrong part of my hand, throwing everything off. I keep hearing about punch drumming... which i assume is the next step after i get good. For now i dont even want to know what it is though

I didn't see this post when you made it.......Sorry!

Welcome to the world of speed bagging. Keep at it, it'll all come together. Sounds like the platform at your gym is for old school boxing. The platform you have at home, you'll find much easier to hit from all angles/sides.

Post a video with you progress.

If you have the "Basic rhythm" down from the front (triplet rhythm) than you can easily hit to music. Punch Drumming is a term created to describe using the accented beats and rhythms of the bag to keep time with music, just like a drummer. You're "drumming to the song" with the bag beat, and you do it by punching - ergo, Punch Drumming. You don't need great speed bag skills to do it, just punch "on the beat" with the basic rhythm. The more techniques and combinations you can do the more variety you can use, but you can do it with just the basic rhythm.
