I'm for the most part been self taught. Figured if I ever had to use these skills to protect myself or whatever to use my knuckles w/ a tight fist. When I would get tired baggn I would then switch to the sides of my fists. I've been spending countless hours studying youtube and forum vids and it seems w/ the side,reverse,etc.. The fists are somewhat loose. Can you guys give your opinons. I'm sure its gonna come down to personal prefrence kind of thing.

The tighter the fist, the cleaner the contact you make with the bag.
When you got fists going everywhere its not always conducive to have a tight fist when moving around the bag, at pace.
Harness the speed 1st, when trying or learning new techniques. When you have the motion perfected then add strength.sigpic'IRON HORSE, LIVE TO RIDE'

Thanks Roc ya Ive been at it past couple days. I'm fast at just forward punching thats all I've ever done. So It's been like starting all over again real slow just getting the feel down of the new punches, and then trying to speed them up a little at a time.
I also Ride I have a CBR1000RR 2004 I'll put up some pics someday. Or you can go to starrotors.com to motorcycle gallery its all the way at the end cause it was the first bike to make the site.

For me personally, I make a fist and keep it semi-tight. Not tight like hitting the heavy bag, which is quite tiring.Originally posted by sparrky37 View Postc.. The fists are somewhat loose. Can you guys give your opinons. I'm sure its gonna come down to personal prefrence kind of thing.

Ya Tim between you and Skunk I notice it the most.Your thumbs almost seem to drop on side punches. I'm getting the feel of it. I got alot of habits to break ( boxing habits) so I still want them in the tool box, just start learning to use my new tools. Stance, elbows, fists, bag height etc....

It's hard to punch "relaxed" when squeezing a tight fist. Least it is for me.Originally posted by Tim View PostFor me personally, I make a fist and keep it semi-tight. Not tight like hitting the heavy bag, which is quite tiring.Speed Bag

Ya that's interesting,"spagheetti hands" thats funny, honestly don't know how you do it. I'm working on relaxing more that definately makes sense. I just feel like I don't get a good respomse from the bag without a tight fist, but with time.

I did notice you hit with a pretty loose open hand. I just gotta believe if you really crank it up to full power your fingers are gonna get sore banging together. Of course like anything else you can probably get used to it. I gotta tell ya, your skills have really improved. You were laying down some pretty nice combinations on the porch and in "the truck".Originally posted by Tim View Post
I haven't been hitting much lately and when I gave it a good two hours the other day my hands and fingers are pretty sore today.Speed Bag

I don't think I normally hit like that, not sure what was going on...Originally posted by Speedbag View PostI did notice you hit with a pretty loose open hand.
