    A Platform question

I have been messing around with the speed bag for sometime now. I have a cheap Everlast set up(Speed bag,Swivel,Platform). I recently started hitting a professional bag and have got really use to it. I ordered a Ringside 5X8 and a new swivel. It is still not as fast as what I am used to but yet it's the same exact bag and swivel. I just ordered a professional Platform and i'm waiting on it to come in and was just wondering if that was possibly the problem.

Do you have anything on top of your platform now? like a sand bag or something, that really cuts down on vibration, which primarily makes noise, however if your platform is unsturdy, when the bag hits it, the platform takes a lot of the momentum and energy to iself instead of sending back to the bag making your bag slower. So it may not be the platform itself, could even just be its framing. I know you said you already got the new platform, which should help as well, but I'd try the sandbag thing works really well for me.

probably, not "exactly" the same bag and swivel. I always buy bags and swivels in pairs, or threes, to have back ups and have often found that no "same bag, same size, same shape, same manufacturer..." means they will react the same. Some bags really come to life and jump off the swivel, and the next seem kinda dead, sluggish or out of sorts. Same with swivels. Some ballhooks work great, others seem dead. You might expect the same model bag or whatever to work the same every time, but in my own experience I'm not that surprised when the results are not the same. Disappointed yes, surprised no. Particularly in the last few years as equipment companies strive for cheaper, lower cost-higher profit alternatives. Quality and Reliability suffers, and it has hit the speed bag industry.

        My Platform

I haven't tried putting a sandbag on it I had some weights on it but it didn't help much plus wasn't a too safe approach. I have this platform

I did think about the framing not being very sturdy so for this next one i'm mounting it straight in to a concrete wall to keep all vibration down to a minimal.
