    Backyard Setup Help

I just built a backyard gym and would like to transfer my speedbag platform from my room to the backyard. The question is, how? What what I have to buy and will it be stable enough and cause any problems in the future?

Pictures or Videos would be great!!

I haven't used it in years!!! Look at it broken here:

It's now used as a storage and a clothes hanger. LOL

    Here is my backyard:

This is where I would like to place it at:

    Thanks everyone!

    yakabod, welcome to the forum.

You have a great looking outdoor setup. I wish I had a that much room for my exercise equipment.

It looks like you may be able to attach it to the joists. I don't know how it could be attached to the 6x6 support, but then again I'm no Tim "the Toolman" Taylor.

I'm sure others who have rigged up platforms will chime in with suggestions. Good luck.

I had to laugh at the second picture. I have done some home computer networking for people over the years, and I've seen many uses for unused exercise equipment. That is so typical.

So for what I want to do, It's not recommended? Would you guys suggest a freestanding platform instead?

How about building a box from the top rafters with 2x4 or 4x4 and cross connect with wire and turnbuckles. Then you could finish it with some wood to create a hollow box. But that might be noisy. You may have to fill with some foam, or just leave it open sided.

Not if you can possible put up a wall unit.

Here is one of the best outdoor setups I have ever seen (posted by "nick") I'd love to have this on my back porch.

Yea, I saw that one. I don't think my dad would approve on adding that many braces just for the speedbag.

Maybe you could design it something like BillyMacks setup, using four braces.

(...and if your dad gets into the speed bag with you, maybe he won't mind the braces)

Thanks for replying again. That's an interesting idea. With the four braces, it should be stable enough to eliminate vibrations.
