          Too small for a beginner?

I'm just beginning--happy to save money on a good bag, but not if it's too small and will just end up in frustration.

The largest Title classic bag at the $14.95 price is 5" x 8". If you feel that the Rival 7" x 10" (or any other bag you would suggest) would be better for a beginner, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

I'm planning on getting the Century platform which comes with a vinyl 7" x 10" bag, but one of you felt the bag that comes with it was too hard on the hands. I did get a pair of Harbinger 130 gloves.

Thanks for your forum. My copy of the Speed Bag Bible just arrived, will spend time with it tonight.

...you won't need a sleeping pill

The title 10x7 (SB-7) is also a good bag for learning.

Thanks--I look forward to counting speed-bag punching combinations rather than sheep!

I just noticed this Everlast platform-bag combo at Costco for $99 delivered:
http://www.costco.com (The URL is about a mile long, so put 367910 in the search box). The platform is usually $139 without the bag, however...

The bag is a "man-made leather." Hmmm. Here's a description of what I suspect the bag is:
Shop new and classic BJJ gear from 93brand. A New York-based Jiu Jitsu design company. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gis and CUSTOM Academy Uniforms. Premium athletic gear including Rashguards, Shorts, and Spats/Leggings for MMA, Nogi, Submission Wrestling. Apparel and accessories for the Martial Arts enthusiast.

Great platform, I've tried one before and it's very sturdy.

I have this bag, and one very similar to it (without the USA flag). They are definitely a synthetic material and while they are not terrible , I definitely prefer a real leather speed bag. It feels better on the knuckles. Those particular everlast bags don't have a very energetic rebound either, they feel dead (at least to me they do).

Man, that's a great deal with the bag included....if you can wait that long.
I would probably pay a little extra to NOT have to wait two weeks if I could buy it at a store. It is already frustrating ordering bags and having to wait for shipping or because they are back ordered or whatever.
But that board is what I have in the speed bag truck. I love the drum and I love how it assembles. And I think it looks cool!
                    BAG ON!

I wish I still had that sense of urgency! But with running my own business (12 hours a day is a short day) parenting a 9-year-old, and living on a small farm, time goes by so fast I fear two weeks will be here in what seems like the blink of an eye.

And thanks, Spinmaster and Tim. Your comments helped me decide to push the button on the Everlast platform from Costco. I was going to go with the Century, but this one looked more solid. It's also available from WalMart.com with instore delivery for $96 but without the fake leather bag. I figured for $3 extra, I might as well get the kit with the bag.

                        I'm heading toward the Title 10x7 (SB-7) bag. http://store.titleboxing.com/titlespeedbags1.html

Have someone buy it for you and send it USPS priority flat-rate. It will turn out to be about 14USD in shipping and of course they can mark the value down to prevent VAT if there's any of that going on....
