Usually the most bigger bags are a little easier to control, but that also depends on the whole set-up. Could also be something with the bag itself, maybe it’s not inflated correctly or it’s just a bad, cheap bag and the one who changed it now has a great performing smaller bag

Sounds like you need to be the proud owner of your own bag the size you like

Since then I can't control the bag as well. It seems like it's going good after a while then it starts swinging side to side

Are bigger bags just harder to control or is the mount somehow messed up? I don't get what happened.

They've had the bigger bag for about a week now and I still haven't gotten the hang of it.

            Hey Resolution: Welcome.

There could be a number of reasons for the "bag control" issue. Could be a swivel issue more than the bag. All bags are not created equal and the swivel has about as much to do with your issue as the bag. Swivels can react different to different size bags. Second, it could be that specific bag is slightly warped or "out of round" so to speak with a slight odd shape and that can affect its arc "slightly". Those are some standard "equipment based" answers.

Now probably the most relevant answer....and usually the one people hate to hear the most.... the term "control the bag" is a mis-nomer and it's a slang term to dumb down the fact that it's most likely a bagger probem, not a bag problem. IMO, the speed bag is simply a mirror, reflecting FOUR key elements of YOUR physical control of

            (1) Repetitive Movement, (2) Punch Force , (3) Punch/Elbow direction and (4) point of bag contact.

Truth is - the action of the bag is usually a pure reflection of what YOU give it. Nothing more. The word "Repetitive" is also key, because all four elements are present Every time you hit the bag....usually hundreds of times over and over.... and that is the same for ANY bag Large or Small.

When the bag goes awry, you can bet one or more of those 4 was most likely the problem and the bag is reflecting it. Of course it is often hard to see or realize "while you are punching" and it often takes a second set of eyes watching you punch to determine the problem. And hopefully those eyes know what to look for. ( Hint: put a camera/phone video directly to one side about shoulder height and video your punching, Frame yourself from your wait to the board )

There are a few "helper culprits", or issues that can influence one or more of those elements is (1) the height of the bag and (2) your arm and hand positions "when NOT punching"

            (1) A Bag set too high can easily have negative effects the swinging movement, direction and contact point on the bag. A bag set too low is less of an issue since the board can only go as low as your head, but for a large bag this can lower the belly of the bag to your chest, not ideal and pretty much eliminated downward elbow strikes.

            (2) Holding the hands or elbows too low during the non-punched rebounds will also cause problem, because it effects the distance they must travel back to the bag, and if you wait a bit too late in the rebound before moving it will effect force because you will sense our late and "have to hurry" and punch faster/harder to make up for it that will add a bit of more force to that contact, making the bag go a bit faster, changing the timing for the next punch. That's where that word "repetitive" comes in, Meaning repetitive force to keep the bag going at the same speed to create the ongoing timing of your movements.

Anyway, that's been my believe for at least the past 30 years under the board. (For my first 10 or so years, I'd blame the bag or swivel also...)
