    Swivels

What is the best swivel type??? i see that most of you are using the B/H. I myself have the Chain link. On a Century stand. the stand IMO is garbage. waiting for $$$ to upgrade. Oh and thanks in advance.

    Hi EazyDuziT

There is probably no single answer to that question for it is really a matter of personal opinion. Some people find a bit of difference in the "action" and rebounds of certain swivels, some find one swivel style "faster" than another and some people find certain swivels easier to control than others. A part of the answer lies in your hitting style. Personally I hit from "all around the bag" and I have found the standard ballhook to give the most reliable rebound action. There is nothing in the swivel construction, links or bag attachment that will alter the rebound angle. I can't say that for Chainlink swivels and U-bolt swivels. I have hit many bags on many boards with many swivels, and I always come back to the metal ballhook simply for the accuracy of the rebound when punching from all around the bag.

IF you only punch from one side (front) or perhaps front-and-back, then any style will work fine, but when I mix in side punching I find alterations in the bag rebound occassionally that cause control problems. Adding side punching really opens many more combinations and rebound angles that will not occur in any other punching.

now that is just MY preference. Others may differ - and in the end, it's just a matter of personal preference.

I have the everlast chainlink and chainlink that ringside sells. I also have the everlast plastic ballhook swivel. The chainlinks are faster - you don't have to hit the bag as hard with the chainlinks as you do with the plastic ballhook to get the bag moving at a certain speed. That is the precise reason why I like the ballhook - it's a better workout because I have to work (punch) harder to get the bag moving.

I agree with Rigal, a ball hook makes for a much more challenging workout. You must be very precise with a ball hook, otherwise the bag goes off in the wrong direction.

I notice that more with a plastic ball. For me it seems much harder to control than a metal ball.

scroll down here and see a picture of trying to put an everlast plastic ball into an evelast metal housing - and why it doesn't work well.
