    Title Precision Adjustable Speedbag Platform

Sorry to start off with the same old lame line, but yes this is my first ever thread on any forum and so consider me a newb. I have just restarted my training, amateur boxing background, for conditioning purposes only and to be honest I miss the game alot. I have amassed a small collection of gym equipment; Swain Flexi Roll Mat, TKO Heavy Bag Platform, Everlast 80lb heavy bag, countless bag/sparring gloves for boxing and MMA, and videos as well. With that being said, my real question today is has anybody had any real experience with this particular Speedbag Platform and how would you rate this particular product. Unfortunately, I did a google search after the fact, buying this bag from ValorAthlecticsInc.com, great preview and customer service by the way, and came up with this site, which I knew sooner, and researched the bags and equipment I will need when it comes, already purchased new speedbags and swivels that have been recommended. I am using this in a Co-op in Queens, NY, so the quieter the better, don't like keeping up the neighbors and for anyone who knows NY, a co-op is in a building sort of like an apartment, but you buy to own, anywho, I needed some input on this product and have hit up other threads on reducing vibration and the most quiet swivel/bag, which will help me tremendously. Thanks for all your help, and please be kind to someone who always over does it on the writing, Poli Sci Major, ciao.

The speed bag is a noisy beast no matter what... if it's not the clanking of the swivel, it's the beat of the bag on the rebound board...

        1. The Everlast plastic ball hook swivel is quieter than the metal
        2. A smaller bag (like a 7x4 or 8x5) will make significantly less noise than a big bag (10x7, etc.). A larger bag has a deeper bass sound to it, that would probably travel farther.

That said, I imagine if you keep your practice to sane hours hopefully no body will have a problem!

Thanks again Tim, will keep that advice when shopping for other bags. I noticed on some of these threads many individuals complain that the drum on the platform has a loud rebound and by increasing the thickness this usually cures the problem. How thick should someone go on a 23" diameter drum and what would be the best material. I have either particle board at hand, putting together 2 or 3 pcs. of 3/4" and laminating with a black thick melamine or should I go with 3/4" ply oak (same 2 or 3 pcs.) and use a finish face for the bottom side and put on a couple coats of poly to seal and protect the finished side? I am at odds and don't really know how this platform is set up or what thickness the daimeter drum it comes standard with, any and all solutions would be appreciated, ciao.

your best bet is probably to buy it, try it unmodified. If it's too noisy , try putting a 50 lb sandbag on top (which has the same effect as adding wood to the board, but is a lot quicker to try). That will deaden the noise significantly.. combined with a low-noise swivel and a smaller bag, that's probably as quiet as it's going to get.

The other factor is that all wall mounted units will transmit vibration through the walls, a freestanding unit will minimize that greatly (which is why I have a freestanding sort of unit). That said, the freestanding units are generally *greatly inferiror* to the wall mounted units, way too much movement of the board in many directions (vertical and horizontal!)

Take a peek at some of my oldest videos (on youtube) and you'll see my old freestanding unit, wih an amazing amount of movement... compare to the setup I have now (my latest videos) which is very solid.

Yeah Tim, I can actually see the big difference with the two platforms from beginning to present. Well since I already bought the unit I'll let you know how it goes and how loud it will be.

Well guys just got back from finals week and just when I started to wonder about things, UPS delivered the platform. I will take pics and show how I will mount the unit. Overall I am impressed with the material and workmanship behind the product. It truly is a piece of art once unopened. Everything was in order with a set of great instructions and warranty, full-lifetime, don't think I'll be needing it though it looks like it was built for high-grade commercial usage, but they call it light commercial grade. Overall so far the product looks awesome and seems fairly easy to install, already prepped some items at the shop and bought carriage bolts and other mounting hardware, till then wish me luck.

                  Platform Review/Pictures

Ok, I finally installed the platform and it took a total of about 4 hours if you include shop time to make the wood backboards and trips to Home Depot and Lowes. Install time took 2 hours to put it on the wall with the help of my patient and loving wife (she may read this later and if I don't mention her I won't survive the evening). This platform certainly feels and looks well built and constructed. I hung it up next to our heavy bag and there is enough room to maneuver because we can move our heavy bag from either the left or the right side. The drum is 1" thick and made from MDF with a paper laminate. The adjustment in height from the bottom to the top is approx. 14" in total length. It locks down with four turn knobs in the rear which are easily accessible. The backboards I pre-fabricated are 3/4" birch ply and I used 8" carriage bolts, washers, lock washers, and 5/8" garden hose washers. The speedbag is an Everlast 4210, basic, only one I had on hand and have yet to pick my other one in Florida, will be a while till I get that back though. Well I will do a review on this platform as to performance, vibration, stability, and dependability. The swivel looks to be an Everlast/Title Pro Swivel, pretty basic. I also will be mailed a speed bag by Jim from Valor Fitness, have to say this is a bonus considering he never charged me for any shipping charges as well. Well I will cut this short for now and if someone needs some more info please feel free to ask and I will try to answer it as best as I can, ciao.

                    Pictures to view

Well sorry but I did not know how to create smaller size images from the jpegs so I created an album to my apple email. I hope you guys enjoy and I will post updates to the use and dependebility. So far, I am happy with the performance and construction. The only complaint so far is that the drum is not thick enough and I don't think the MDF drum board gives a good enough rebound or it does not reduce vibration from the bag rebound. I want to double the thickness to 2" and use a wood based drum, this I believe will help in those two areas as well as increase the diameter to 24". I could be wrong about all this but I want to at least try, anyone with better ideas would be welcome. Here is the link for the pics below:
