Balazs i-Box speed bag platform

I'm thinking I'll get this speed bag platform in the next few weeks. It's got everything you could want in a wall mount unit - Thick 24" rebound board, 12" of adjustment, rock solid, looks like a work of art, and best of all - just $199 AND made in the USA.

Look for a full hands on review shortly. I've always had my eye on their stuff, but most of it seems to be targeted to fitness establishments, i.e. very heavy duty and consequently a price tag to match. At the moment, I'm thinking this is hands down the best wall mount available for the serious hobbyist. If anyone has used this unit, please let me know your feedback.

I haven't used one of these "V" bracket wall units yet, but it looks like a solid unit. Just be aware that a 24' inch diameter board will allow bags larger than 11x8 to come past the end of the board. Seen below, this is a 24 inch board and the Red Everlast 4210 11x8.



It is also attached to an older style ballhook. Some of the The newer swivels have a longer body, making the bag hang even lower with a longer rebound arc.

fortunately, most beginners can get by with an 11x8 or the newer 10x7 sizes. and the longer, larger bags have apparently gone out of style for they are hard to find.

Hi fellas, new poster here.

I have an Everlast platform that is nearly identical to the Balazs one on the left side of the picture. It is very solid and I detect no "wobbling" of the platform when I hit the bag.

The wood is very heavy, as is the metal frame. I have it bolted into a cinder block/sheet rock wall and it is essentially part of the structure it is secured so well.

I am a newbie and am using a larger bag and if I hit it correctly the rebound, etc., is very smooth.

One question - it does have the chain link faster for the bag. Years ago I used the ball and hook style of bag fastener and the chain link style is new to me. Is it a good set up or should I seek another type of fastener?

Sure, it's a good set up if it works for you. If you like the chain link (although it's normally difficult to change bags on these) I would stay with it. Swivel choice is ultimately a decision of personal preference. All have strengths and weaknesses. With experience, as you use more and more swivel types, you will eventually find your favorite.
