    Custom Maplewood drum

My new Maplewood drum. I'm considering buying this platform http://www.rdxinc.co.uk/rdx-authenti...-platform-set/ Has anyone used it? Any reviews, opinions?

Drum is 30 inch diameter and 2.5 inch thick. Approximately 20kg. I will post more pictures when I have it up and running.

    Cheers

THAT is a beautiful drum! Sorry I don't know anything about the platform you linked to, but it does look solid. I'd just be sure it will support the weight and 30" size of that drum.

Thanks Zaza. Looks like I will have to find an ironmonger that can custom make me one out of tough box section steel. I can show them a pic of examples on here so they know what I need.

The drum looks really nice. If you dont need it adjustable you could consider wood framing. Done correctly it can be very strong

Thanks swfl. Looks like I will be getting someone to make me a replica of the Balazs frame. Impossible for me to import it to UK so will settle for a replica.

My new custom made Balazs replica frame! Shipping was just too much to the UK for the original Balazs. Very happy with it. Will post more when it's in the wall and ready to roll.

It's finally finished! Time to start some serious practicing. I will post a video at some point.

Love everyting about this...BUT, you need a ball hook swivel now!
Really beautiful platform, enjoy and post some video soon so we can see it in action.

What is the benefit of the ball swivel over my current one? I have private messaged the member who makes the Powermill swivel to see if he will ship to the UK but have not had a response. Can you recommend a brand in the UK to buy? Thanks

Sometimes he's hard to contact because of his work. If you can't get him, Deville makes a great ball hook too. You can get it here. The advantages to a ball hook over a U-bolt is that after a while you want to start doing different combo's. The ball hook gives you more flexibility on doing a wider range of movements.
