This is one of many studio PR shots that was part of her portfolio. There are others showing her working out on that bag (I have one of them, can't seem to post it, still trying). There are a lot of PR shots of various stars, both male and female working out on a striking bag, dating back to at least the 1920's. It appears that a lot of these were lost during the era of studio consolidations, and a lot of old paper went in the dumpsters. Some of it fortunately survived.

Where do you search for these, besides ebay. I googled Kim Novak images and there are none of her on any bags.
I've got a magazine shot of Jeff Goldblum hitting a speed bag, and one of a female federal court judge hitting one. Never scanned them.
It takes a lot of searching on several different search engines to get anywhere sometimes. There are some movie archives out there if you dig deep enough you'll find some pics. Of course as mentioned some show up on eBay, there is one particular photo studio that regularly puts copies up for sale. Of course, he plasters his name across the eBay copy (can't blame him, especially if the negative is legally his).

yes, and thank goodness for image editing software, the "clone", "blend" and "remove" functions. Sprinkle those with a little patience, and you'd be surprised at the results of a screen capture.
eBay has been a good source, but maddening. I bid on a photo of Dorothy Revier, a 1920s actress you've never heard of, but she was with a speed bag so I couldn't resist -- but it went higher than I expected. Would have hung her in my living room.

I think that I have a screen capture of that one in my files
