That is a nice setup. So even using those two thick pieces of wood for the base you still feel the sandbag helps? I would have thought that setup would not rattle at all.
thanks for the compliments. when i built this thing about 4 months ago, i didnt have any sandbags on the top and it was very very sturdy. then chris m suggested that i try putting sandbags on the top anyway. so i did, considering that they were only $2 a bag. i will say this about them; they really helped take the vibration out of the wall, and made the unit sound more solid, even though it was very solid to begin with.
as for the teddy bear, my step daughter gave that to me for christmas to use as inspiration when i hit the old speedbag. if you look closely, it says "ali" all over it. next time i post a video, youll see how solid the unit is, for the ali bear does not move at all.
I'm always getting emails about how-to "build your own" units, and I'm glad to have some links to use for my replys. There are some really great home made units made by some of you guys
