Welcome to the forum RWC, (or is it REC?) Anyway, nice looking platform. Two questions- how heavy is that mofo? and where to you plan to hang it?

Hey Biff, Thanks for the welcome. The board is heavy; I would say at least 40+ lbs. I went with this instead of plywood to hopefully alleviate any vibration issues. This is getting mounted in the garage underneath a boxed in heating/cooling duct running the length of the garage 60 inches wide. The heating/cooling duct is framed with 2, 2 x 10's on each side also running the length of the garage. I'll bolt the platform onto 2, 2 x 6's x 60. The 2 x 6's will be on the outer portion of the platform. The 2 x 6's will then get lagged into the 2 x 10's that frame the heating/cooling duct. So to make a long story short it's getting lagged into the ceiling but not directly into the ceiling. I'll upload more pics this weekend to give you a better idea. I'm hoping to rap this up over the long weekend.

This will be the first time hitting a ball hook and the smaller bags (5 x 8 or 6 x 9). I can't wait to give it a go. Videos will follow.

thanks uk, i have limited options in setting up a platform so fabricating was the solution. I'll have more pics this weekend. I just want a solid board unlike what my gym has.

Wow, looks very nice and very solid. Let us know how it hits. How high off the floor is the board mounted?

looks like a watkins Boxing Gear Ball hook swivel, with the longer hook.

                              platform

That part of ceiling is lower it has the cooling and heating ducting running through it. I'm 6'2" so using a 7 x 10 its perfect. When using a 5 x 8 I stand on 2, 3/4 inch pieces of plywood. When using the 6 x 9 I stand on 1, 3/4 inch piece of plywood.

The swivel is the watkins metal with the longer hook. I'll replace the hook later. (Good eyes Alan)

Anybody recommend a ball pump. I've broken 2 of the plastic ones now. Also the smaller bags feel much lighter which means I end up punching harder is this normal? I've only hit 7 x 10 and up at the Gyms I go to. They aren't boxing gyms so they tend to have equipment that beginners can use.
