    Old school rope speed bag

Hello, I just finished making a 48" speed bag drum and platform. I got the idea from "The Punch Professor" on YouTube. He calls it a "dingle ball bag". I've seen several old black and white pictures of people using it but not much else.

Does anyone know the name of this style platform?
Does anyone have any old school footage of boxers using it to train?
Can you recommend a good swivel to use?

Nicely done. What you did with the Everlast swivel is similar to what the Nichols patent swivels were like, you just did in reverse what they did. They were originally a ball with a hole drilled in it and a rope threaded through and a knot tied at the top. They eventually used the same design but installed a hook and eye into the ball

For sale right now, no. There are members who do have them, most likely not for sale. All I can suggest you do is what a lot of us do, troll eBay. It's amazing what shows up on there.

You can set up a "saved search" on eBay, or set up an RSS feed for an eBay search. Eventually a rope swivel will show up. Multiple searches with different search terms may help.

Price is high but there is a Nicols #309 for sale. now,

Yeah, there is a whole lot of stuff with that, I've had a couple of purchases like that. I still have a pair and a half junior 8 oz gloves I don't have a use for....

Hey ventanakaz ! I think from the top of the bag to the swivel is roughly 10 in. I found that it is easier to control when under 12 in. I am using a l balaz bag. It is heavier than all the other bags I have but is much more bouncy than the xl am l title bag I have. It works very well on this set up
